Ward knew this fight was going to come up sooner or later and ducked Alvarez like Chickenson did. Biggest duck of the century bigger than SRL ducking Hagler and Hearns.

And I thought he retired because of Bivol and Beterbiev! Yet Ward moved up to 175 with every intention of fighting, not only the top LHW but, a top 10 P4P talent in Kovalev, not once but twice. I will concede the idea that Ward may have assessed the situation and figured he challenged himself enough and doesn't have the dedication to take on this young, hungry group of guys anymore. Who knows? Can't see how retiring is considered a duck. Now, if he was still fighting and not fighting these guys for this reason or that reason, then yes, it's a duck.

Are you going to call Calzaghe a ducker since he retired as he was being called out by Chad Dawson? Ward didn't duck so that's the end of this thread.

After Kovalev twice and NOT having the wbc belt I don't see how Alvarez was even on the radar. At the time Alvarez had unfinished business with Stevenson and Ward had mandatories for the rest of his belts as well as the "talk" of moving up another division or two. Kovalev was the goal at 175 and after that I dont know if ward was ever interested in furthering his career at the weight (no matter who that would be)

Yeah, Ali retired because he heard there was a 200lb 12 year old in the Bronx knocking out grown men. Ali knew they would cross paths someday, so he decided to retire. SMH

Ward only took fights he knew he will most likely win. He had limited fighters with good resumes and promotion. He never faced true elite fighters, which is why he rather commentated GGGs fights on HBO and fought Rodriguez and Smith, rather than GGG who called Ward out since 2012. Thats why he never faced Stevenson.

All opponents Ward fought were beaten EASILY by real elite fighters. I am glad Ward will be, no, I am glad he already is forgotten.

I’m not a Ward fan, but I respect the man as a winner. That said, tell me again which elite fighter EASILY beat Froch.

Yet you just mentioned Ward in your post. So I guess Ward is not forgotten! He is hated far too much by you and guys like you to ever be forgotten. Your sack sucking love for Kovalev will not allow your hero's vanquisher to be forgotten. Now we can place Kovalev's tap dance in the archives next to Zab Judah's chicken dance LOL

Ummm .. this thread is about Ward, so I mentioned him, anything else wouldn't make sense! Who remembers Ward besides the 2000-3000 active users of boxing forums all around the world? If anything some, maybe some, people would remember his face from the little role he had in Creed but they would need to have a very good memory.

Me liking Kovalev? No way, I was one of the first saying he is way overrated. Hating Ward? He's just some Irish dude from Oklahoma or wherever he is from. Never liked him as a person nor his boxing style but I do not hate him.
