Pacquiao received precious little criticism for essentially being the cause of the long-running feud between Golden Boy Promotions and Arums Top Rank Promotions. In 2006, upon his arrival at Los Angeles International Airport from the Philippines, he was met by Golden Boys Oscar De La Hoya. De La Hoya gave him a suitcase filled with $250,000 as an inducement to sign a promotional deal. The problem with that, though, is that he was already signed to a contract with Top Rank, which a retired judge who served as an arbiter later found. Clearly, Pacquiaos decision to accept the suitcase filled with cash happened under false pretenses, but Sternburg skillfully turned the conversation in a different direction and Pacquiao took precious little heat for it. It seems that Oscar was after for Pacquaio at the same time Arum was. Pacquiao still took that suitcase full of cash.Don't blame him though. Poor guy from a 3rd world country gets money for nothing.:bolt
This is old news and talked about a lot when it happened. ODLH's GBP was getting paid a small % everytime Pacquiao fought.
"Politicians" like Pacman are always finding suitcases full of cash on or about their person .....on a daily basis.
it also escalated when floyd started working with golden boy .... when floyd first left TR(bought his contract out)....arum made mention that he and floyd would probably be working together in the future.....bob thought floyd might use TR the way he ended up using golden boy to promote his fights.....bob was not a happy camper when floyd started using golden boy to promote his fights and became a huge success......and im sure bob was never thrilled with oscar doing his own thing.....he doesnt like fighters doing things like that...he likes it when they need him ....
