Thing is i don't see Dirrell as similar to DeGale. Only thing's i see is range and southpaw's other then that they ain't same type of boxer. One's a mover and relies on reflexes and speed to pot shot the other relies on defence and understanding of range can work close/mid and long range.

I don't find Groves grounded at all tbh, DeGale can be a div but Groves ain't no better imo. DeGale's worked hard from what i seen and heard and i think he beats Groves.

    We will see on Saturday.

The sparring with Barker didn't happen in the end iirc.

Dirrell is allot harder to pin down than DeGale is. DeGale seems more comfotable boxing on the inside i give him that.

I think body work is gonna be key for Groves. He does have a sweet left hook when he chooses to use it.

Ive never really understood the hype surrounding DeGale. Ive never been that impressed with him (apart from against Smith) If he wins, ill hold my hands up and say i got it wrong. I do really rate Groves

    Fair dues mate.

My question though if your not impressed with DeGale and don't rate him why you rate Groves?

Im not really sure. By default i have followed his pro-career since day one and ive grown to really like him..

I like the way he plants his feet when he punches. He is a excellent body puncher. (granted we see less of that now but he has it in the locker)

He has good hand speed and a piercing jab when he chooses to throw it.

His biggest flaws to me are his footwork and obviously his defence. He can look awkward at times when he throws combinations and he isnt that great on the back foot.

What is it about DeGale that you like so much?

I like way he can work from long, mid, short range and i like the way he changed after being booed on debut to change and become more aggressive. He does some lovely things defensively and the Smith fight he showed some much poise and class. Not many British fighters...well tbh hardly any fight way he does and it's so freshing. He doesn't run he stands in range and evades shots to land his own.

Plus as a guy i like him i think he's divvy and lets himself down at times but he can be funny and he seems a good person if people look past his immense belief in his skills.

He throws alot of wide shots from mid range. Im not sure he is the best strait arm puncher around. Im intrested to see how he deals with Groves jab.

The only fight where he made me stand up and notice was against Paul Smith. I was very impressed but im not sure Smith is really a super middle, plus he fought the completley wrong fight IMO.

I dont remember him ever working the body, or trying to... He just loaded up for DeGales head and James just countered him for fun. (thats from memory as ive only seen it once)

I dont think we have seen anyone near enough of DeGale to claim he is world class.... If he beats Groves, ill hold my hands up.

On a seperate note, he needs to ditch Jim Macdonell quick time
