    Even Hatton for some rounds.

    Is not

    A) Because they had good jabs
    B) Because they are pressure fighters (not entirely)
    C) Because they are 'awkward'

It's because they took the fight to him and imposed their will, set their own pace and made Floyd react to them, at least for some of it.

Fighters who don't do this? Check Canelo, Guerrero, Ortiz. Canelo is not worse than Maidana or any worse than Cotto really, he just fought way too passive and stupidly let Floyd do what he wanted.

PAC WILL set a pace in this fight and there fore WILL cause Mayweather problems.

Mayweather is a pure boxer. You can't beat them by following them around the ring looking for the big punch. He'll pick you to pieces. And you can't outbox him, but to be fair the only elite boxer he's ever faced was old blown up Marquez

    You must pressure him.

Pac has a way of pressuring with out having to be leaning on your chest and hitting you in the kidneys. He can jump in to range very easily with his fast hands and feet. Floyd will be on edge, especially early.

Cotto won like 2 rounds at best. Mayweather had broken hands for a span of 3 fights early in his career and some were against Castillo, thats before he hired the specialized trainer who could wrap his hands different. Maidana fought dirty.

exactly...the notion Cotto was a hard fight is a myth.

Mayweather has fought much bigger guys with high pressure styles and won most rounds...ive only really seen DLH come close to beating him

maidana: no trouble really....maidana hit air all night in the first fight. floyd picked him apart with combos. i scored it 9-3 floyd being generous to maidana. in the rematch, floyd moved a little more and dominated.

cotto: once again, no trouble really. all this hype about "trouble" just comes from the fact that floyd got a bloody nose:lol:...cotto tried to maul fmj against the ropes, but even inside, floyd was beating cotto up...floyd did a lotta damage to cotto.

castllo: floyd had a bad hand in the first fight...castillo was no problem.

now, if you want to be realistic, let's look at some other fights...

guerrero: put a lotta pressure on floyd, got beaten like a dog.
ortiz: tried to pressure floyd, got beat like a rented mule.
chavez: tried to pressure floyd got beat like a stepchild.
corrales, gatti, marquez: tried to pressure floyd, got beat like they stole someting...

the moral of the lesson is, pressure doesn't work against fmj either.

One thing is for sure, Manny has to bring pressure, intelligent pressure, but he can't afford to throw caution to the wind and be reckless.

The addition of Ariza (and Memo) to Floyd's camp is huge!

those who had success against Floyd were heavier than him and had a great inside game in the clinch!pacquiao has nothing of that :hey

seriously maidana almost looked like he had 3 arms in the first fight it was like he was able to hold Floyd and still hit him with both hands :rasta

The problem is there aren't too many fighters, even elite ones, that know how to cut the ring off properly, including Pacquiao. But yea, in order to have success against Mayweather, you must not fight his fight and allow him to figure you out. I've also noticed not many of his opponents displayed any type of defense against him with the only exception, ironically, being Maidana,in the first fight. Chino made Floyd miss shots, something we're not accustomed seeing. And this is simple, basic defense we're talking about, no flashy fleet of feet like a Pacquiao or Lara would use, and this coming from a slow plodder like Maidana. Body attack is also essential against a slick master like Mayweather. Smart pressure is the key to beating Floyd.

no one seriously thinks floyd would have a chance against prime leonard

he'd be lucky to not get KO'd by leonard

leonard and pacquiao win by speed
    iron chin
    reflexes
    and combinations

leonard also possess just about every trait required to be a master boxer

    but pacquiao is even faster
    has southpaw advantage

footwork too, Canelo has slow feet. Canelo may have decent technique and hand speed but poor footwork. He looked like a turtle in the ring

Floyd fans will also point out to reach and point to DLH and Castillo having reach. Well, i'm not so sure that was that big of a factor. Castillo was just aggressive and relentless, similar to Maidana.

floyd wins because hes a cerebral assassin

that means he takes away the opponents best shot
and makes them think- in that moment the fight is essentially over

castillo maidana mentally were never phased
    stuck to a game plan
live or die, it didnt matter

slow as a snail ginger nuts tried to out think mayweather

canelo actually has a excellent boxing brain- but is let down by his slow as sludge movement and low output

canelo could have been 190 in that fight and he would have lost

pac is dangeous because he will do his thing no matter what

even when he loses and takes a beating- ex. against morales
    he never stopped being him

I had Hatton up on the cards until somewhere in the middle rounds. At this point Cortez was warning Hatton for everything even when Floyd was elbowing him in the face. Hatton was slowing and getting frustrated. Floyd picked him off from there.

but yes Hatton did trouble Floyd early.
