The Nazim craze shows you what sheep and idiots people are! Do you wanna know why he's so revered? The same reason ppl would think Clint Eastwood is tough, if he wasn't famous and you saw him on just walking down the street (assuming he'd act like he does in the movies). He comes across as a sage. The beard, that Muslim woven thing on his head, the soothing sagelike voice, the aphoristic speech (even when it doesn't make sense) etc. If he was an actor and asian he'd play kung fu masters etc. I've seen interviews where he says things that are either idiotic or obviously true and people go nuts as if he's just said the smartest thing in the world.
the man took a 37 year old past it boxer and destroyed the number 1 147 boxer in the world in his prime the man took a 43 year old granddad and humiliated, disgraced and ruined the career of an undefeated fighter in his prime
Watch the Marg Cotto fight and imagine if Cotto clinched every time he should have. It'd have been a cake walk. Margo is easy work for boxers. Hops is a terrible style matchup for Pavlik. See, that's the problem with people, you give examples of two fantastic fighters and HOFers and atribute their success to a trainer who's been training them for, what 3 fights (IDK). It's not the fact that they are terrific fighters that made them win the fight but it was Nazim. You really think Mosley couldn't have beaten Margo if there was nobody in his corner? Same for Hops. Cmon, man. And the other thing is, if people used their heads, you'd realize that you can't really know what a trainer does. Smth can happen in a fighters personal life, he can get a new charge, just the change (of getting a new trainer) intself can revitalize him etc etc. It's plain silly the way people think they can rank and rate coaches. A coach can be proclaimed great only on being good at spotting talents. Maybe Pac would be twice as good had he worked with someone other than Roach, we don't know, you see?
Probably beacuse he saved boxers to fight a cheating Margarito with plaster in his gloves and discovered his cheat while other trainers could´nt, that´s one hell of an achievement, and on top of that he lead Mosley and Hopkins two upset victories.
What's not to love about the guy? He's a great trainer and says funny, memorable quotes. I can't imagine anyone disliking him he seems too likable for that.
I'm glad you brought this point up I been meaning to address it. Naz did nothing for mosley, and it's not NAZ fault it's just that when your mosley's age your not gonna learn new tricks your just gonna fight. He was in there with a man who's style was built for him, mosley at 50 could beat a prime Margarito. Magaritos style(coming foward) doesn't require him to use up any energy. Let's see what happens when he spends the first half of the fight chasing mayweather around and missing punches. By the second half of the round he will be tired and Floyd is gonna tap that ass
oops I forgot to mention him and BHop did come up with a plan to take away paviliks right hand and it worked so he gets props for that
I doubt Mosley would come up with clinching Margarito on his own so you have to give Nazim props for that strategy. I bet when Marg was clinched he was like "WTF!" because no one did that before.
The guy knows his stuff, but lets see him prove himself a little more before we go calling him the next Eddie Futch. They were saying the same thing about Buddy McGirt and that guy has disappeared off the face of the earth.
Watch in between rounds, the advise he gives, he is a good trainer, maybe not famous for his training methods, but he knows his boxing good enough to strategise. and do u hear him talking **** like roger, Senior, and roach. got to respect that brother.
Most of the replies here have been idiotic, but I think this one takes the cake, so far. I find it hard to believe anyone will surpass it, but, you never know
:huh takes the cake for being idiotic? I thought we were cool:| We used to play basketball together:nono
Let's judge him on what he does, not his appearance. Right now, his work with Mosley and Hopkins is solid. Therefore, his reputation is pretty much justified at the moment. He hasn't been at the helm long enough to deserve equal status with someone like Roach, but I see no reason to criticize or lowball the guy as yet.
