Monzon could be a favourite over Calzaghe, good style against Joe.

Hagler gets eaten alive. Give me a break, I don't care if he's an ATG and a worthy high ranking ATG, he doesn't match well with Calzaghe, especially a division up.

    Fought the best, big difference.

Deliberatley sought out the toughest matches in his own and in a higher division. Took on and beat multiple ATG fighters. Status **** all to do with "star quality" unless you are an idiot. Resume.

You've become confused along the way and started talking about money. Money has nothing to do with it. Burley made no money at all, $3,000 was his highest payday. He fought many great fighters though.

Duran, Roy Jones, Barrera, Morales, Pacman (already), Mayweather.

These guys all took on ATG hall of fame fighters to secure a legacy as an ATG, many above weight. You will probably have reasons why these men are "famous" and Calzaghe isn't, but it means nothing.

It is possible for a moder fighter to secure an ATG legacy (Which Blocky seemed to be disputing), and Joe hasn't done that.

    Bottom line.

What I said had everything to do with it, because all of those guys were in money making positions to take on the best because they could provide the best guys with the payday in the modern times.

Burley? Different game back then, we were talking modern match making.

Mayweather's been a hand picker recently BTW, but again, he's the big name superstar money maker for ANYBODY who is a potential opponent, of course it's easy for him to secure matches.

Tyson fought Lewis, years and years after he should have if he wanted any type of chance to win. Tyson fought many, many very very good fighters and beat them in order to achieve his status as an ATG HW.

This might be true. But he has somehow missed out on Clinton Woods, Roy Jones Junior, Bernard Hopkins, Antonio Tarver, Glen Johnson, Taylor and probably others that I can't think of right now, at the time when they were considered "the man". These are massive fights. These are all fights that could have been made. Some of these guys, of course, were seriously overated by the american media. All were better than every fighter that Calzaghe took on apart from, possibly, Lacy. Maybe.

Is there some reason that Calzaghe can't leave HIS DIVISION?

In my last post I raised, and you have entirely ignored, a comparison with Hatton. Here it is again. Hatton got a new promoter because he (rightly) identified his own as lacking in ambition. Joe didn't. Hatton left his home country, because he (rightly) identified the FACT that the best fights are generally made overseas. Hatton became a two weight division champ. Randomly. But he still managed it.

Joe did none of these things. Joe has never left his comfort zone. However much you scramble around for reasons why Joe doesn't have to do what every other ATG fighter has done - fight some of the best fighters of his day - it will still remain a fact that the difference between his talent and the talent of the men he faced is absolutley huge. This is what we mean when we say weak resume.

Blocky, what the **** are you talking about?

    Really.

Astonishingly, you are wrong about this. But anyway, he probably will face Kessler (though he pulled out of some very big fights with injuries, didn't he?). Listen carefully - that list of fighters isn't very impressive. And Joe has shown an astonishing lack of ambition for what is an incredible skillset.

You're correct here, but there is also the matter of how difficult it is to make match ups for dangerous guys who bring no money, as he was a no money draw for anybody pre-Lacy except for in the UK, which Americans don't want.

Just because people aren't familiar with guys like Richie Woodhall and others, doesn't mean that Woodhall was a journeyman either. People just can't analyse fights correctly.

And Kessler, even though you don't agree, is quite an elite class fighter, could beat a whole heap of top fighters. Kessler is two steps better than Taylor and Pavlik.

I don't see the difference between what Burley did (fight the best fighters he possibly could) and what Leonard did (fight the best fighters he possibly could). I do see a difference between what Burley has done (fight the best fighters he possibly coul) and what Calzaghe has (not faced the best fighters he possibly could). Beyond that, I don't consider there is much to say.

He started at lightweight and has won straps at Light Middle. Extraordinary. He is now about to take on another top p4p fighter. He is a multiple weight world champ. His achievments in the fight game crushes Joe's.

I would agree with you here BIG TIME. I think Kess would make Taylor and Pavlik look silly. How do you think he matches up against BHop?

Here, I will make it very simple for you.

LEGENDS THAT TYSON FOUGHT: Hollyfield, Holmes, Lewis.

    LEGENDS THAT CALZAGHE FOUGHT: None.

Now, eagle eyed as you are, you will probably discern that Tyson lost in four of his five contests v Legendary fighters. Much easier to lose when you fight great fighters you see. They're harder to beat.

Sorry, I quantified that quite clearly - Calzaghe staying at home and not bothering his arse to go to the states - where he would have owned - YEARS ago, is one of my most serious criticism of the man. So I don't know where you're coming from here AT ALL. Of course he's not going to swank into America and fight Roy. Again, think about what Ricky Hatton (similair position to Joe) did. Took the right fights to increase his exposure, and now gets the p4p #1. Think about it.

You keep saying "none of these guys were in his division", like he's stuck there somehow, and now you're even providing reasons why he can't fight the guys that he can't fight because he's not in their division. There's something a bit schizophrenic about all of this.

This may shock you but I know the difference. IT ISN'T MUCH. MANY FIGHTERS MOVE BETWEEN THESE DIVISIONS. THEY DO IT TO GET BIG FIGHTS. IT HELPS WITH THEIR LEGACY.

Good Christ, you love this argument. Joe isn't even particularly comfy at 168, 175 would have been best for him years ago. But why risk the family silver, right?

That is total bull****, it's just a passport to your Calzaghe nut-huggery. Barrera, Morales, Lennox Lewis, Evander Hollyfield the list goes on and on. But have fun in your Calzaghe loving wonderland where things are only true if they help you man. "Impossible". **** sake. Only for a guy that never leaves the home range.

    Ok, let's look.

You'd have to be an idiot - an idiot - to feel that way.

    Didn't face ANY great fighters.

And in spite of what you might think, or pretend to think, there are great fighters about.

Joe might have had to have left HIS DIVISION to make those fights, ****, even HIS COUNTRY, but that is what you do if you want to be the best.

The B-hop now? Kessler very wide UD.

Prime B-Hop? Good fight, you have to remember styles and Kessler's style is a good edge over B-Hop. But at this point, you'd also have to pick B-Hop because we only have so much to analyse with Kessler.

    And how he beat him!

And no, Lacy was not the best Calzaghe beat.

I'd love to see you're top five Joe wins.

And maybe the five guys he missed out on that you most would have liked to have seen him beat.
