Is that even if he wins the fight is probably competitive and violent enough to warrant a trilogy after which he would be ruined and his career finished. If he gets 50 or 60 million max to fight Benavidez and 30 million a pop for a bum or lets say 35-40 for a charlo then its just not worth the risk. If Benavidez bumps him off the throne convincingly how much do you think he would make for a Ryder fight? 10 million maybe. Just look at AJs paydays outside of saudi arabia after he lost to Ruiz. I promise you he would have made twice as much for Helenius or the other guy before that(forgot his name) if he was reigning champion and even better, undefeated. Canelo is trying to milk his status and hoping for the saudis to maybe develop an interested at which point he will sell himself for a 2 fight deal against a Benavidez in which he will get ruined as it would have been another few years aging.
No matter what way you put it, Canelo is ducking Benavidez. I don’t understand how and why some people some ok with this. Canelo is a great fighter, that does not give him a free pass to cherry pick, hold up the entire division, and duck the clear number 1 contender.
Canelo has never wanted to fight big punchers. Throughout his career been very reluctant to fight them. He was extremely reluctant to fight G
He will fight Benavides after Benavides agrees to a CW and rehydration clause, and also to tie his shoelaces together and fight with one arm only,
He can't age out Benavidez. It's been obvious he's avoiding him since he declared he wanted to fight Yldrim for the vacant belt.
Benavidez just moved up to Light Heavyweight and is fighting for the interim championship. Even if the WBC keeps Benavidez' mandatory statusbat 168 while he's campaigning at LHW, the he's fighting Gvozdyk in June. No way Benavidez takes the fight with Canelo in September. Like I said, Canelo-Benavidez will happen in 2024, maybe even 2025.
Benavidez announced that he's moving up to 175 to campaign there. He's the one ducking Canelo. If he wanted the fight alls he's gotta do is stay at 168 an enforce the mandatory. But no, Benavidez decided to run off to 175. You yourself called the Benavidez annoucement "bizarre" which I would agree with. It's bizarre for a mandatory who's in position to force the fight to choose to not only fight at 175 but to fight to become mandatory there. That tells us all we need to know, Benavidez is choosing to not pursue the Canelo fight. But somehow you've concluded that Canelo is ducking Benavidez? When we know that not only is Benavidez moving to 175 but that PBC can't honor their contract. It's time to accept the reality of the situation, that Canelo has no choice but to leave PBC. PBC literally doesn't have the funds to make the Benavidez fight. And by the way, it turns out that Rick Glaser dude was spot on, yet several Canelo haters on here mocked him and claimed he wasn't a reliable soruce. He's completely vindicated now.
