i am certain that the boxers who fought at the olympics this year were thinking "if we win silver or even a gold we will be big news when we get back to britain"...NOT THE CASE.

i will try and explain why degale isnt getting the same attention khan recieved after his success at the olympics.
the most simple reason i have is, amir was basically was set up by God to have all he has....it was meant to be.

i heard in 2003 40 boxers were sent for trial to athens and only one was chosen, amir khan. last year britain sent 30 and they got 8 places.:hey
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dudS5yZbKhI

also this year i never saw any boxing on bbc. i had to go looking for it, by pressing the read button. i didnt even see any highlights, im not saying there wasnt any boxing or highlights, but it couldnt have been on enough times.

when amir fought he was only 17 years of age, the only amatuer boxer from britain sent to the olympics, a great one too and what made him unique was the fact he was asian. it was made the asian community take note, make sime noise. and when the asians make noise, everyone knows whats it all about. it was easy for the bbc to show his fights, this year if they showed one boxers fights and missed the others out, it wouldnt have been fair.

so basically whenever khan fought, ppl (the asians) were going crazy. and when the asians make some noise in britian, everyone watches and listens.
i still remember the hype surrounding amir khan back then, it was mad. even the girls were talking about boxing for once, simply cos of how pretty khan is.

    this year....well lol....LMAO:rofl i didnt hear **** all. :yep:deal
i didnt even hear nothing about the boxing, not on the radio, nowhere, maybe i missed it but no one told me either. i had to go looking to see who won the gold for britain, THAT IS JUST ****, that should tell the story itself! it just isnt meant to be for degale, he might be a world champ hopefully but the olympics will not give him the hype he needed cos he's just another white boxer (not being racist) he wasnt given enough exposure and his fans didnt make enough noise either.

Amir was unique back then for alot of reasons, his colour, his fans, etc but ultimately it was meant to be for Amir Khan. i wish degale and khan all the best for the future!

    PEACE:thumbsup

bbc did show a little boxing without having to go interactive but i found it difficult to know what was on when.

i have noticed that there was little mention of the boxing until degale got the gold and then suddenly it was an outstanding achievement and one of our most impressive golds.

however, i think degale has the personality to create a bit of hype for himself, and with warren as promoter (who else is going to offer a million quid?) he will get a lot of media attention as a pro - just not as much as khan did.

khans age and the fact he was the only boxer made the difference. his colour is only a hinderence. theres way more racist and facist dicks in this country that are agaisnt khan, than aisan people who are supporting him.

it just seem people are looking for reasons to slag kahn off all the time, even things that have nothng to do with him.

what next..................ryan rhoades grow his hair...............oh its khans fault.

The timing didn't help, unless you were a boxing fan you had to go out of your way to watch a decent number of fights. Khan being the only boxer was obviously a factor too.

This is why they shouldn't have the Olympics in these sorts of backwards countries.

Another factor is that this year we were amazing at quite a few sports and won a record number of medals/gold medals therefore all these athletes received a lot of attention as well as DeGale. Four years ago we had less medalists so Khan got more attention due to him doing so well plus he was only a young kid then so was bound to get more attention (look at that 14 year old in the diving.)

I kept hoping that little bugger would crack his head open on the diving board.

Yeah, but as the nation laughed long and hard, DeGale would get even less coverage.

Sometimes people must suffer for the greater good.
