This post really shows how little you now about boxing. There are at least 10 guys on Ali's resume' who would absolutley dominate any HW in the world today. Many of the guys who were consider second tier fights in that era woul be unified champ today.

In closing, I'd just like to say:

    SHUT THE **** UP NOOB!

Henry Cooper would be undisputed champ at heavy today, as would Frank Bruno.

I have Wlad at #10 p4p and think the division is quite strong given the universal nature of boxing now.

Yes, Wlad would be much more highly regarded if he were black but he can overcome that by stringing together some impressive victories over Povetkin, Haye, Peter, Chagaev ...etc.

    none of the heavyweights are
    outspoken- rjj
    funny- calzaghe
    talk trash- mayorga
    marketable- oscar/floyd
    a ko artist- pavlik
    very skilled- paqman

add this with the lack of competition in the division.. it makes for a horrible division

That has got to be the worst arguement for anything I have ever heard.

Wlad is the only guy fighting right now that would be a top contender in the 90's

put down the pipe, Jesus that was dumb.

it has nothing to do with his skin color

    hes young
    speaks english well
    marketable (attractive & excting)
    exciting fighting style
    outspoken
    successful up to this point
will put asses in the seats

no fighter in the hw division has all of these attributes

Maybe you should have picked different examples.

Jim Brown was a HUGE running back, even by todays standards...he was also a world class track athlete as well...meaning he was BIG and FAST!!! He didnt fumble either. The man was a MONSTER and would be a HOFer even if he played now.

Wilt was 7'1, 275 lbs...he was also wonderfully skilled offensively and very good defensively....with the shortcomings of todays NBA centers...just like Brown, Chamberlain would still be on his way to the HOF if he was in the NBA now.

Ali was also this type of athlete...today, he is unified and dominating.

Sometimes I wonder if people even see these older fighters fight or do they just form their opinions off of boxrec and the 1 or 2 fights they may have seen on ESPN classic.

I wish we knew what his other screen name was so we could ban that as well....pretty obvious he is an alias of another poster.
