It matters nothing to me if DLH beats both Pac and Hatton. Neither of them belong in the welterweight division, period.

Pac should be fighting Hatton or JMM III.

    DLH should be fighting Margarito.

  2. Paq has everthing in his favor if he loses which he probaly will ,people will still admire him for getting in the ring with the much bigger man, not to mention this fight will be his biggest payday..
Dlh has much more to lose than Paq and if he somehow loses he will be the biggest bust in boxing losing to a guy that was once a flyweight..

Hmmm. Myself, I imagine I will be subscribing to the view that Oscar was either shot or badly faded if Manny pulls it off. This follows pretty naturally from my view that Manny does not have the ability to compete with a DLH who is at all close to his prime. Of course, I will need to see the fight, and if Manny looks good beating DLH, I will give him his credit - even a win over shot/DLH is an accomplishment. However, little can or will convince me to think that a powerhouse Welterweight can lose to a 130 lb fighter without mitigating factors. I'm pretty sure this dilemma won't be realized anyway, as Pac will bravely lose.

This fight proves that Oscar is not interested in legacy or indeed credability. He is only interested in being involved in mega events. He wants to make fights that can be sold to laymen as the 'Fight of the century" - or, namely, 'Dream matchup'.

This fight (along with Calzaghe vs Jones) disgusts me. One good thing about this fight, as mentioned by another poster, is that it will bring in a lot of interest from the general audience (those who dont watch boxing regularly). Perhaps this fight will turn a lot of the general audience into boxing fans?! Who knows really. I will say this, cos i'm not watching this fight, my gf will probably make me sit through another episode of Sex and The City. As much as that show pains me, i rather sit through that than De La Hoya vs Pacquaio.

Why change the name first of all? :D. If Calzaghe beats Dawson would you change it to CalzagheFAN84. Maybe thats a bet for the future .

Your B & A analysis is spot on in terms of this fight. Little or no props to Oscar as he should beat pacman without much trouble.
If pacman pulls it off it keeps Calzaghe from #1 spot p4p (poke poke still awake!!) and more importantly would be a tremendous win for pacman.
Oscar aint shot to pieces and is a very high quality boxer the fact that pacman could step up again in weight and beat DLH would be unreal imo.
The argument would be made that oscar was shot worse than X when he lost but I have not seen his decline as so terrible that he couldnt KO or put a bad beating on pacman.

Interestingly I have been watching the 24/7 series and imo oscar is taking it too easy, he still has his family around him and for me his mixing of nacho and angelo dundee could be a case of too many cooks.
Hopkins popped down to help him out as well. I think that there could be too many distractions with training and his personal life for him to prepare well.
Pacman looks to have had a solider camp from what you can tell from the 24/7's.

Unfortunately we wont see the best fighters take on each other consistently in boxing. It's a business as they keep reminding us.

But with it you give up the chance to see a real underdog triumph against great odds. Same with Calzaghe Jones, can Roy roll back the years.
Would you be watching this fight if it was not ppv?

Damn good post. I hope your wrong in regard to the consensus following a Pac victory though, if that should happen.

Yes, if Oscar wins I will largely point just to his overwhelming size, your Option A. I feel that Option B is offbase unless Oscar genuinely got old overnight (which I can't see). Oscar has been fighting well in his last fights, despite doing so infrequently.

    I AGREE with your post.

However, since the fight is already there i want to add something.

I wonder what the die hard pac haters will say if pac wins.. I would not be surprised

if all of a sudden odlh is called SHOT..

One thing is for sure this fight (DLH vs PAC) will be MORE INTERESTING (WIN OR LOSE for PAC) than DLH vs PBF.

In the DLH vs PBF there was hardly any exchanges of punches. Both boxers are too cautious that they hardly have any EXCITING rounds worth watching and watching all over again.

This fight is a ****ing farce. Im getting sick of the boxing powers shoving these bull**** ****ing fights in our faces and talking about the fight as if they themselves believe its that great. Everyone knows this is a stupid fight, but the lame attempts by ****ing De la Hoya and Arum and Roach to make it seem like a real competetive fight are making me sick, I will never buy another ppv that features Oscar again, I wish this fight flopped in the ppv sales but we know that aint gonna happen
