I'd like to start this thread by first saying that i'm the bigger fan of Miguel Cotto and he is a top world class fighter , but after watching his last fight even though he showed at lot of heart and beat a tough opponent, I really don't see how hes going to beat Manny Pacquiao, there is a number of reason for this.

    1. Cotto's stamina.
This is the thing that worrys me the most and the main reason that I favour Manny, I really don't think he has the stamina to keep up with Pacquiao he really looked gased in a lot parts of the Clottey fight, luckily for him, Clottey just stalked Cotto without putting to much pressure on him, but unfortunely for Cotto, Manny will fight at a much faster pace and will not slow down or tire.

    2. Mannys awkward southpaw style.
This is going to be the one of hardest things for Cotto to overcome because there's no fighter today that can uses the southpaw stance to his avantage as good as Pacquiao can, plus his punches come from multiple angles that are very difficult to see coming.

    3. Mannys speed and combinations.
This is what for me what makes me favour Manny to win this fight, this is where I think Cotto cannot match or find the answer to, I believe Manny is going to be the boxer in this fight and that is why Manny will win because of his advantages in hand and foot speed and once Manny gets into his rythm and starts letting his combinations go, I don't think Cotto will be able to keep up with him.

I like to finish off by saying that even though I can not see Cotto winning this fight I do believe it will be a competive and exciting fight but that Manny will win decisively in the end, I see the referee stepping in between rounds 9 - 11 .

I would also like to say that even though I believe Manny will win I do not think that he is as instructable as some believe and that this is the fight that we will see if Manny can truly take a welterweights punch because we doe not know yet, because he has not been hit with anything damaging since he has moved up.

Also this is the fight where Miguel Cotto can prove he's a great fighter this is his chance and I believe his last chance to become a major superstar and I think he knows it and for that reason I believe he will be in the best shape of his career and will give it everything he has, that will help him prove me wrong but I don't see it being enough, I hope I'm wrong.

    what do you guys think,

Cotto has a legit chance, IMO, if he can hurt Pacman to the body and keep himself from getting cut and having to play defense for a large portion of the fight. I'm interested to see if he cuts more easily now. If he allows Pacman to swarm him with volume without keeping him honest it could be a long night for him and a short night for us. I also think this fight will be a better true barometer of Cotto's chin than the tainted Margarito debacle.

It's harder physically to fight a strong, fulled sized welterweight like Clottey, than a smaller guy like Paq. Cotto's stamina will be better against Manny , if the fight does go into the later rounds.
Cotto's fought loads of world class southpaws, so thats not much of a factor. What will trouble Miguel the most is Manny's speed and punching angles.
Cotto will be physically stronger and more used to fighting at welterweight.
The question is, who will be better at exploiting the opponents weakness and capitalizing on their own advantages? Cotto controled a very quick Mosely with his jab for several rounds , and Shane is considerably bigger and stronger than Paq.
Manny hasn't fought anyone as big as Cotto, and it could be Manny slowing down in the later rounds as a result.
This is going to be a tough hill to climb for Paq. He'll have to use all the speed and punching angles he can muster, and hope he can offset Miguels jab, and avoid body shots and wrestling in the clinches. Against Cotto, that might be asking too much.

I expect Pacqiuao to jab, throw straight lefts and break Cotto's rhythm and disrupt his own jab. The big question mark for me is how will this two react to each others punches. Pac's very fast and obviously has good pop in his punches. Will Cotto see them coming? Also, after all he has accomplished, Pac hasn't really felt the punching power of a real ww. How will he react to it, will he even get hit? As of now I still give Pac the edge in this fight, but I do hope I'm wrong :yep

Comparing Hatton's defence to Cotto's defence is like comparing Harold Shipman to Mother Teresa.

Cotto is still pretty much primed, Hatton wasn't. Cotto has better punch resistance, far greater offensive composite punching skills, a better jab, hits the body better, and is harder to tag clean than Hatton is.

    Very true and funny.

I have a feeeling Pac man is going to come on very strong in the first 3 rounds. If Cotto can weather the storm and not get cut he may be able to slow pac man down with body punches, and slow down that amazing head movement that pac has. Then he may get more sucess with him punches.

I am not calling this fight as i find it very hard to.

As a percentage i give it 55%-45% in Pac mans favour.

If he can take the incoming and pounce on him ala Quintana then Pac could be in for a world of hurt. I will literally **** myself if that Cotto comes to fight.

I actually think Pacquiao will start of slow and use his footwork for the first couple of rounds, Cotto is to dangerous to trade with early,
