Diaz gave a good account of himself last night. He went up against a HOF'er and corrected most of the mistakes he made in their first fight. However, I will criticize him on two issues.

1.) There is no excuse for him to be in that kind of shape. He had love handles for crying out loud! And don't give me this genetics bull****. He does not do road work, and in reality he should be doing it. Swimming is nice and all, but he needs/should have hired a nutritionist or trainer to get him into better shape that that.

2.) He should have FIRED Shields a long time ago. Shields has to be one of the most OVERRATED trainers out there. I can't believe boxers are actually hiring this guy to train them. If Diaz wanted to be loyal, he should have kept Shields as his chauffeur or water boy. I was cringing at the "advice" Shields was giving last night. He contradicted himself, did not have anything useful to say, and generally gave him generic advice. Dude sucks.

Anyhow, Diaz seems to be a nice and humble kid. He has a lot of things going for him and I wish him success outside of the ring.

    Gave him 2, 3, 10, 11, 12.

2 and 3 could go either way, last 3 where clear diaz rounds imo

O.k. I actually had it for JMM 9-3 in rounds won. I gave the close rounds to JMM because he controlled much of the those until Diaz had a small rally.

I like Diaz, I didn't necessarily like his style last night, but I think if he were able to find a balance between the two it would be good for him. There's no doubt he's got the talent, but I'm not sure he's found himself as a fighter and it may be too late in the game to do that. Either way, I was impressed with the dude, and I think he could still accomplish some things if he were so inclined.

Never watch boxing again? dont have to be an expert judge to watch the sport.

im not paid to score fights so my scoring of little relevance.

but no point lying bout my card. that is how i had it, i can understand 9-3 as well, i gave 2 close rounds to diaz early on.

I think Diaz added another skill to his arsenal in fighting on the outside as a defensive measure to not get ko'd, but that didn't help him win the fight. That won't help him win any fight, just survive. No way is he going to outjab anyone that way. He's still the same fighter that lost to Paulie. He's just fighting better fighters in JMM and Paulie than when he was undefeated. So no, I don't think he improved at all.

Dude, its Juan Diaz. If you've followed his career thats just how he is. Get over it. Juan Diaz with love handle or no love handles would've whipped the **** out of any other lightweight in the world besides Marquez last nite.

Ronnie Shields is a good trainer in my opinion. But sometimes fighters just gel really well with certain trainers. Alot of it has to do with chemistry and judging from last nights performance Ronnie is doing a great job with Juan.

Ronnie is just doing a great job in general right now. He's training the future Heavyweight champion Tomasz Adamek among a few other successful fighters.

Also trainers, in the midst of battle, are nervous and say dumb **** or contradict themselves from time to time in between rounds. All of them do it. I think its funny:lol:

How is a fighter in "survival mode" when he is applying intelligent pressure, landing punches, and countering effectively? Tell us doctor.

Well, I disagree. He needs to buckle down and get in better shape. And no I am not saying he has to look like Rocky did in Rocky IV, but come on.

    Anyhow, enough of that.

That's as good as Diaz will ever be, always a notch below a past prime Marquez. SUCKS FOR DIAZ BUT IT'S THE TRUTH.

BeeKeepz, your statement means nothing at all. So Diaz isnt as good as Marquez but he's better than everyone else. So how does this "suck" for Diaz?

How many Lightweight champions in recent memory are as good as Juan Manuel Marquez?

Your post makes it sound as if Diaz should be selling hubcaps outside Houston because he got beat by Marquez. ****in kids.

Damn Kellerman, chill! Don't forget Nate "Ah Can't See" Campbell. I mean, it's cool to shoot for 2nd place.
