Ok I agree he looks good in that clip but remember how he looked after five rounds against Calzaghe? There was nothing left and like other people I think RJJ could get really, really badly hurt against Hopkins. A few people, me included thought Calzaghe carried RJJ in their fight (bad hands-pity who knows). RJJ has only one chance in the next fight and that is to throw the mother of all connected punches in the first 3 rounds and knock Hopkins out. If that doesnt happen, I dont think Hopkins will take pity on RJJ and it will 12 rounds of torture. Im not one of those who think RJJ is the best of all time or even top 10 but he was a great fighter, but now he has no strategy and no defence...and thats not a good thing in a boxing ring!!
Honestly, I think Roy's fight with Green was stopped prematurely. I understand the ref stopped it cause Roy wasn't throwing back, but I think Roy went down in part because of nerves....he was fighting over seas for the first time since the Olympics in 88'. I don't think he'll beat Hopkins, but this fight may prove to be more competive than most think. Roy looked damn good against Lacy, so to say he's completely washed up I think is a bit of a stretch....is he anything close to what he was in the 90's?....the answer is obviously no, but again, I think if the fight wasn't stopped so early in Australia, that fight would've turned out differently.
I aggree on the point that he could get really really hurt. On the Calzaghe thing...he did drop Calzaghe in the first round with a left jab and a right hook to the body. Nonetheless, he got destroyed after... but not on K.O. And this was 2 years ago, thus proving he still got some power and he can take a hit. This makes me want to add something about the Danny Green fight. Roy got knocked down in the first round after that he went into the ropes just to get slammed some more. But if you look at the Calzaghe fight, isn't it the same? And he still stood after 12 rounds. I think it was a bad call of the referee to end it. roy Jones can work the ropes, like showed with left hook Lacy.. but to get back to the main point. This might be Jones's last fight. I think Jones knows that too. I can only imagine the kind of resolve that he has to end this with a bang. Remember the montell griffin rematch? I think Jones is going for a quick knockout. This being either Hopkins or himself. I don't think he's going to try to win or points or make it last a lot of rounds imo. I'll stick to the point that I hope he wins and that he retires after this. But it'll be a quick fight that's all I can predict xD.
This is a lie.... You always talk about hoping to see Roy get knocked out again and again. You can't salvage your rep as a reasonable person, its too late.
While it is fun seeing him get his Glass Jaw shattered I have NEVER wished permanent damage on any fighter. Ever. There is a difference. You are just a delusional Roy fan boy.
Why is it fun to watch a past it fighter get knocked out? It doesn't prove anything, and can cause the permanent damage you are talking about not wishing on anyone. As for being a delusional fan boy, I thought we have been over this many times. Yes Roy got me into boxing, yes I grew up watching all of his fights but I am not delusional. Not by any means. I predicted Calzaghe would win unanimous over Roy, the same as I pick for Hopkins. But you are down right disrespectful, you have no class, and pretty much known as an idiot by all of the forum.
I hope Bernard Hopkins beats the livin daylights out of Jones jr to pay him back for ducking him all these years
Hey, honestly, even though I was never personally a big fan of Jones, I never want to see a great fighter reduced to losing the way he did against Green and I do want both Hop and Jones to give a good account of themselves for the good of the sport. You never know. Sometimes a fighter way past it will turn a fresh looking performance.
If Roy beats Bernard what does it matter? Bernard is 45 years old. This fight cannot be taken seriously.
yes but roy is also 40+ years old so it doesnt matter for both this is like chavez vs randal III interesting because the big name but technically means nothing
