This guy was much worse than Joe Cortez was during this Hatton fight.

He was hestitant to pull the trigger and kept warning both fighters ... stop with the warnings and start deducting points.

Damn it wasn't a dirty fight - but it was too much holding for my taste ... that **** shouldn't have flown ... and he kept warning Lazcano more as if Lazcano was doing something wrong.

Some times the hometown cooking over in Europe disgusts me --

I think that Joe Cortez shouldn't have been blamed for Hattons down fall and should be given alot of credit for forcing a clean fight between the two.

Shame on Hatton for creating excuses by blaming the ref ... especially when this ref wasn't any better ... this ref wasn't to Hatton's advantage and if anything he made it an ugly fight.

What do you guys think? .... all opinions welcome

Both those refs combined don't even come close to the referee of Hatton/Tszyu. By the way, I didn't think Cortez was any bad, he was damn confused at times from the excessive bull**** and odd tactics from Hatton and I can't really blame him. I'm watching the fight AT HOME and get confused/frustrated, let alone be in the ring.

The ref was way too talkative. What made him look like an amateur, Johnny-come-lately, was his inconsistency in breaking the clinches.
I never want to see this guy ref again.

Yeah, and the US just exudes competence in reffing/judging. In the past year, you guys have managed to job Spinks, give a shitty SD for Calzaghe, daylight rob Ngoudjo, come up with one of the WORST scorecards of all-time for Mijares/Navarro, shitty ass inconsistent performances from Cortez, need I go ON?

You guys have a nerve talking about homecooking, you are the masters of it, unparalleled really

Home cooking is a term reserved for Eurpean fighters, refs, and judges --

Not really, any country can homecook for a fighter, whether there is a geographical element to it, or simply stirring that pot for the prize attraction

You guys have come up with the most famous bull**** of all-time when you look back in history, you practically have Germany on the ropes

All countries do it, difference is we don't act like we are saints over here.

Mickey Vans is terrible as well ... he shouldn't be allowed to ref a fight ...

Yep, one thing I would say about the refs in Britain is they are terrible. Its not simply a case of favouring the home fighter, there is just general incompetence, even in less high profile fights

Malignaggi should be thankful that Mickey Vann didn't deem his poncey girl hair to constitute "norties with the head" and disqualify him.
