Why did he wait the full 60 seconds until he went over and did this, giving wilder precious time to recover?

    Why?

    Ever stand up to fast.
    Little light headed, knees buckled.

Ref saw that and thought Wilder might be hurt.
Doc checked his pupils and signalled the go head

The opening post question was: why did the ref wait so long to do it?

Was it to give Wilder extra time to recover?

He called the Dr up just as soon as the bell rang when Wilder buckled from getting up too fast.
It was actually more like 65 seconds if you are counting the 60 second break between rds

    Nah.

He was fully recovered. Just rushed getting back up off the stool.
Ref saw the wobble as a possible sign of head injury.
Can't take chances especially after taking heavy punches in the previous Rd.

So every time a fighter is wobbled we should stop the fight to check they are ok?

It was a momentary decision by the ref to ensure the safety of the fighter.

Wilder took heavy punches and wobbled after the 60second break.

It was a great call by the ref.

Had his eyes not been PEARL, he'd have needed emergency surgery for a brain bleed

Oh so that's the ref's job too, make sure each boxer is fresh, ready, and alert?
