The extra dramatics the referee threw in screaming at Andrade when he turned away from the count had the undeniable stench of smokescreen all over it. It's the universal overacting performance that everyone gives to divert attention. I don't think he could have been more obvious.

On top of that the referee forcibly stood in the path of Andrade twice in the last 30 seconds after breaking the fighters in an effort to prevent Andrade from closing in on Bute and putting him down. The referee was literally bumping Andrade off and then moving in cadence with him and closing the direct pathway to Bute. THE REFEREE WAS BODYGUARDING BUTE.

It's a shame Andrade's corner man only shoved that sack of ****.

He should have tomahawked his ass with a walkie-talkie.

You can actually pinpoint the moment of recognition at 31 seconds when all of this starts happening where the referee looks in and sees that Bute is badly hurt as he leans forward and the referee immediately starts shouting for them to break and steps in. At that point he fully bodies-off Andrade and blocks him the first time as I've described. This manuever alone cuts 6 full seconds off the clock and allows Bute to recover slightly. It lasts from 31 to 25 seconds of the Showtime clock. Then at 7 seconds remaining, again, the referee breaks them and does what he can to block the pathway of Andrade as described. See video link above.

You are right on the money. You notice that when Andrade started to get the advantage on the inside the ref would always breakup the action, but when Bute would initiate the hold the ref would let him hold excessively with no warning for up to 10 seconds.

    Absolutely, couldn't miss it.

If you have only seen the youtube video you wouldn't have been able to see the referee's actions in the last 30 seconds. You have to watch the original Showtime broadcast camera angles.

Solid thread San Rafael. That ref should not do any more championship fights. That's for sure.

Wait until you see it, thunder. The referee is blatantly **** blocking. He doesn't just get in the way, he actually moves in the opposite direction against Andrade bumping him off while he's blocking his pathway, and then moves along with him at the same trajectory mimicking his movement with a side shuffle in an effort to slow him down. It's almost ****ing weird to look at it's so obvious. It's surreal.

The ref broke up th fight every time Bute was hit suring the fight. The Canadian commentators several times commented on how unfortunete it was for Andrade that the ref chose to talk to andrade every time Bute needed a rest.

The whole fight was a disgrace.

The fact he is Canadian doesnt help his defense. Pretty blatant twist of the rules to work in the hometown dudes favour.

Though Bute was clearly the better fighter throughout. Id like to see a rematch.

    I wouldn' even ay that.

It all went as i Andrade had scripted it. Librado would have lost several of his previous fights if he hadnt KOed them. That is his entire gameplan every time and he is damn good at it.

Therefore it is sad that when he does it yet again in a World championship fight he is cheated out of the result.

Bute shot for a single leg takedown a couple times as well and was never warned.
