I don't have any reason to believe that Canelo insisted on the same day weigh-in. It may have come from the IBF, GB may have agreed to it, but to accuse Canelo himself on insisting on that is laughable. I thought Canelo was the guy who always wanted to avoid same day weigh-ins at all costs because he rehydrates so much? I guess that ship has sailed now huh lol. It's hard to buy Jacobs theory that Canelo's side pushed the same day weigh-in on him, GB may have agreed to it, but it's important to point out that both sides agreed to having one, if Jacobs had such a problem with it why didn't he object to it? I doubt GB would have objected to not having one if Team Jacobs had refused to sign the contract with it in there. Canelo's side didn't insist on having a same day weigh-in when Canelo fought GGG both times now did they ? But Jacobs rehydrates more than GGG, so it makes more sense here, I get that. But plenty of GGG fans were mad at Jacobs for coming in so heavy and having a functional weight advantage vs GGG. So we basically have the same situation here only with financial penalties for putting on too much weight overnight. I don't see how any fan of GGG who complained about Jacobs skipping out of the same day weigh-in vs GGG could turn around and criticize Canelo's side now for agreeing to one here. It seems to be a solution to prevent the kind of perceived unfairness that GGG had to deal with when he fought Jacobs. So if you call what Jacobs did to GGG "shenanigans" then wouldn't you want to see a same day weigh-in here so Jacobs is held accountable for doing what he did to GGG to Canelo as well? Or are GGG and Canelo being held to different standards ? I think we know the answer to that.
Canelo. The IBF itself mandates the same rehydration "clause", but not for unifications. Due to the shenanigans Jacobs himself pulled with Golovkin. I love how Jacobs is low key bitching about it and fails to see the irony in it. I guess bending the rules is fine as long as it benefits oneself, but not the opposition.
Two scorecards are already in Canelo's favour. The wranger has no credibility. I'd like to see him get KTFO bit he's clearly on the juice.
That's the most annoying thing ,IMO Canelo is a really good talent , fast, durable ,clever so why does his team have to cheat ,,,its the only word for it...cheat at every opportunity ? its meant to be a Sport...you know where ethics count for something, as in thats not very Sports-man-like .... so you do NOT bend /Cheat at every step of the way...his name is absolutely mud...he has to take some blame by IMO its at ODH feet, he is getting fatter & slipperier than a slimey eel, putting Canelo's rep lower & lower... Should be a good fight , both really great fighters at the top of their game. Excluding ODH /trainers crap... I think Canelo is the better all round complete fighter of the two, I know I bash canelo, its more the crap that goes with him I dislike , as a fighter he is very good. But rooting for Jacobs,
you just can't think straight. the rule is, there are no second day weigh ins for unification bouts per the IBF. If Jacobs fails the second day weigh in the fight won't be off and he won't be stripped of his title. He just has to pay a fine to TEAM GB!. This has nothing to do with the IBF! Of course Canelo did not put that stipulation into the contract, that is NOT HIS JOB. Also the guy is dumb as a rock, but not dumb enough to think he could write his own contracts. Nobody is making that distinction when Canelo and his team are criticized for doing so. They are a team! The shady thing was, when Jacobs skipped that second weigh in, team GGG didn't know beforehand! Of course this trick only works once. I don't care if they do it or if they don't do it as long as both are held to the same standard. Same goes for the Canelo Jacobs fight, all is fine as long as they both do it. But it's quite obvious to anybody but you that team Canelo is trying to get an advantage by putting that into the contract. But it's their right to try to do so, Danny didn't have to sign.
If it were an IBF pushed rule then Jacobs would simply drop the belt again and not have to pay any fines. Since Jacobs is having to pay fines then it looks to me like it was Canelo's team that pushed for the rehydration clause. I don't see Jacobs paying the IBF when he could simply drop the belt like he did before.
Either way it should be a mandatory universal rule. The PA state athletic commission has a 10 lb rehydration clause in all championship fights. Regardless of whether it impacts this fight or not I wished it would just become the norm for the safety of all fighters on both sides of the equation
Your exchanges with that douchebag remind me of mine with that douche when he was defending Clenelos use of CLENBUTEROL. Right up until when Vegas handed out the suspension. And then the douche changed tact and pretended that Mexican beef was the enemy.
