Jones has a Glass Jaw and I will not be shocked if he gets (T)KOed by Calzaghe. What will Roy's excuse be then? I am sure he and his nuthuggers will have hundreds of them.
Its true Rico and Markus have made a name for themselves on here for being completely ******ed....I believe Rico has had a ban thread in the lounge and Markus isnt far off
The only thing is, I think Calzaghe's hands are made of weaker glass than Jones' jaw You gotta remember, the only Jones was never really hurt in a fight up until Tarver (Lou Del Valle delivered a true flash knockdown). Tarver landed one PERFECT left hand right on the jaw, that messed up Jones' equilibrium, which was obvious when he tried to stand up. Then, Jones showed no ability mentality to be in the fight with Glen Johnson, who it took 9 rounds of being up RJJ to then knock him cold. I don't think Jones' jaw is as bad as a lot of people think. I also KNOW that Calzaghe's power is not what his nuthuggers think. You gotta remember, Jones has faster hands than Calzaghe, with MUCH greater power. And Jones hits hard to both the body and the head, with BOTH HANDS. This is a mental issue even more than a physical one... If the RJJ who cares about his legacy and believes he is Superman shows up to the fight, Calzaghe is going down. And I think that the BHop showing against Pavlik may have lit a bit of a fuse for RJJ to put in one more great performance...
Calzaghe couldn't stop Lacy who wasn't defending himself ... When was the last time Calzaghe stopped someone with a pulse??? And DON'T SAY PETER MANFREDO...Remember, I said WITH A PULSE!
Calzaghe does two things you shouldn't do against Jones: Leaves himself opens to counters Doesn't hit hard Oh and a third thing.....he made the mistake over and over again of saying he was better and that Jones ducked him for years. Time to man up Joe, and if you don't think that's firing Jones up...your silly :deal
Calzaghe will not be able to be as active against Jones. Jones is just TOO FAST, and hits TOO HARD... Jones has the ability to counter, as well as lead with power and speed in both hands. Jones really only lays on the ropes when he's tired, or for short spurts, and he can afford to do it against Calzaghe, who doesn't have POWER in his slaps. Calzaghe would have to start loading up his punches to even hope to hurt Roy, and even then I doubt it. Also, once he tries to load his left hand, Roy will hit him with 2 shots before it ever gets to him. Calzaghe never had handspeed or power like RJJ does, and he still doesn't... That will be the difference...
Before the BHop fight I think people overrated Calzaghe's boxing ability. But especially in the first few rounds of that fight, it is made crystal clear that Calzaghe is just not on the level. I am still leaning towards Calzaghe to win this fight, because I just don't truly believe Jones can fight and box a full 12 rounds anymore. But I think he is going to clown and make Joe look utterly helpless early on in the fight by beating him to the punch and boxing circles around him until his legs inevitably give out and he becomes a stationary target. Jones's jab and right cross are gonna find a home early on Calzaghes face. I wouldn't be surprised at a mid rounds stoppage, just woudn't bet on it.
Nobody really thought that Hopkins had enough to go 12 rounds with Pavlik, and punch enough to win. He wiped the floor with him... I don't think Calzaghe has the skillset or power to press Jones enough. The "clowning" and embarrassing that Jones SHOULD be able to do will be enough to win a bunch of early rounds. With that, he can pick his spots as the fight goes on. I really think that Jones has the power to knock out Calzaghe. I just doubt that Jones has the mentality at this point to go for the "kill". Part of the problem with Hopkins is that his style now is boring (especially against Calzaghe). Mark my words, the judges will have much more trouble stealing close rounds from Jones if he is landing the crisper punches and exuding confidence. It's just how it works... Calzaghe will throw his slaps and do his thing, but if Jones just stays off the ropes, throws some counters, and lights up the crowd with a couple of good combos per round, I really think that's enough to beat JC. One last thing people aren't talking about... Calzaghe seems to have tremendous stamina, BUT WHAT HAPPENS WHEN JONES HURTS HIM??? What happens to Calzaghe's stamina if Jones unloads combos to his body, and rattles his head? If Jones is able to hurt him, he won't need 12 hard fought 3 minute rounds. He'll be able to pick him off... Jones need a PBF performance, plain and simple. Utilize a speed and skill advantage to pick your spots with combos, land counter rights and some leads, and win close rounds by being the more effective puncher... That's the performance I expect...
