The guy was not so bad. He did a good career.

Was Super Featherweight titlist and Light Welterweight titlist. A tomato can can't win belts in two weight divisions.

He beat Tracy Harris Patterson for his first belt, then won a rematch. He fought decent guys at 130...like Gabriel Ruelas. He defeated Joey Gamache. Was KTFO by De la Hoya and then was involved in the wars against Ward.

At 140, he was a pretty good contender and defeated Gianluca Branco, Leonard Dorin (who draw with Spadafora) and Jesse James Leija.

Then he was dominated by Mayweather, but then looked great defeated Ring #5 Welterweight contender Thomas Daamgard.

A very solid career and gets bashed too much. Not everybody can be an all-time great.... Gatti was a good fighter.

Never had the skills or athletic ability of some of the best, but had the heart to match and gave us some amazing fights.

If half of the boxers out there were half as exciting as gatti then boxing would be twice as popular

i miss gatti , i would never want to see him try to comeback though , he was and always will be my favorite fighter , i remember on my wedding night watching him take out leonard dorin , gatti had heart and never quit , im just glad he got out when he did, he fought hard his whole career and deserves to enjoy his retirement.

This guy had a pretty good career - very entertaining - and put it all on the line when he did fight. You can't ask for more from a Boxer.

Why you think we supported him like we did in Jersey?

my fondest memory was, i believe, the 12th round of gatti-robinson I. Gatti went for broke, and Robinson was rocked and was highstepping like there were potholes in the ring, but somehow managed to stay up and Gatti and Robinson fought to the last second. Incredible fight.

I'm just happy he stopped fighting before getting seriously hurt. Should have called it quits after the PBF fight. He was entertaining to watch, always.

It's too late, he's already punch drunk. I love the gy but he lost some marbles after the last couple of beatings he took.

Gatti will always be held in a great light in my eyes. He brought pure excitement to the ring. Though I knew he was losing it when he told the media he wanted to fight for the WW championship again against anyone of the champs (Kermit, Paul Williams, Cotto, PBF) all of these men have the ability to serious damage Gatti on a mortal level if he where to fight again.

Gatti should have retired a good while ago. I hated seeing him get knocked out by Gomez and Baldomir. In his prime Gatti kills them both in the same night.

Blatently cheated the scales in order to gain the size advantage over a sub-par Joey Gamache.
