Gonzalez stops Hasegawa in 4, Ao and Nishioka save night 2-1 for Japan following recent natural disasters

Goddamn, that's what EXACTLY I was afraid of, for Chrissakes I even posted just get through the ****ing 4th round but to Jhonny's credit he caught Hozumi good to put him down. The ref could've let it go and Nishioka beat Gonzalez from the canvas, but maybe better for Hasegawa's health. He did not look anything like his BW self and his defense requires speed and reflexes.

Nishioka knocked out Munoz in the 9th and Ao scored his career-best win with a 4th round body shot KO over Gutierrez. It's like life in Japan and life in general, they lost one but there's another. Circle of life. This one is a little less painful than the one vs. Montiel but still devastating. At least the Japanese are 2-1 tonight, and gave the fans something to cheer about. The show must go on.

Despite Japanese boxing winning the night it always feels bitter when you lose the main event.

Oh well, atleast the Kameda bros are looking strong and I want to see more of this kid

    How about this kid? :deal

He was the winner in one of the top 3-4 FOTYs against Ryosuke Iwasa (still behind Gonzalez-Vargas and Concepcion-Marquez, and maybe Rios-Acosta as well...but excellent...)

Havent heard of him. Nor saw his FOTY candidate.

At 28 and only 14 fights, you think he can make some noise with the likes of Montiel, Mares,Donaire,Agbeko,Darchinyan and Perez?

Oh yeah, this has been bugging me for a while...

Are pretty much all young boxers in Japan these days trained to be southpaws?

****ing...Nishioka, Aoh, Hasegawa, Yamanaka, Miura...most who attain any sort of regional or world title fight lefty.

The only right-handed titlists that come to mind are Nakamura and Takashi Uchiyama.

Aren't lefties supposed to be a minority?

WTF? Have you been under a rock?

Did you see Concepcion-Marquez and Gonzalez-Vargas?

Of the four best fights of 2011 (by FAR) only one has been aired on mainstream television: Rios-Acosta...which is probably #4/4. Lee-McEwan is maybe #5 or 6.

He's good for the domestic scene but probably not limitless world potential. As you'll see when you watch the Iwasa fight, he gets hit a bit too much...but that's what makes it such a thriller.

Shimoda, Ioka, Kameda and the list goes on, I noticed the southpaw tendancy too. Interesting that another Island, Cuba is producing a lotta lefties too. The Japanese work their style beutifully, you gotta love Hasegawa, Nishioka, Ao, Ioka, Shimoda, all skilled yet taking chances and welcome a fight, all braver warriors. Unfortunately it isn't very for long term, Hozumi is about to pass the torch, but in his prime he was one helluva prizefighter.

The no1 Japanese boxer is Nishioka right now who's different to the others, his road to the top was extremely long, but instead of slipping at 30 he raised his level and is closing on a P4P ranking, just needs to fight a big name.

Ao is pulling a Hasegawa as we speak, adding some welcomed power to his southpaw boxing, knocked Tajbert down for the first time and Gutierrez out with a Mexican-style body punch. Ioka is all power and picked up a world title faster he picked up pro boxing, plus there's Koki Kameda.

Lotta nice southpaw years ahead of us!
