The Reputation of Lennox Lewis?

I'm just thinking of the Briggs victory was the fifth I originally meant to mention before I got lost and came up with Grant.



Lewis showed strong mental detemination in that fight and overcame adversity.

Obviously, the Vitali fight was something, too. A shame that one had such an unsatisfying, inconclusive ending.

Yeah, if I'm not mistaken Ruddock was expected by many to come out on top in the 4-man tournament that never was.

He had such a big reputation following two losses, which is always reason for suspicion.

That said, it's been awhile since I saw that fight but I remember a Lewis who was much greener and uncoordinated, but still had tremendous raw power. I believe he actually got tagged by at least one or two nice left hooks from Ruddock as well.

I always thought Lewis' chin got a bad rap. It was always much sturdier than given credit for, and some of the shots he ate against Briggs, Ruddock, Mercer, and Vitali illustrate this.

 

I think Foreman beats him. Foreman would be the worst style match-up there for Lennox, IMHO.

Lennox matches up well with Frazier and Marciano, and as much as it pains me to say this, he probably matches up fairly well against Louis, too.

I think Foreman almost certainly beats Lennox. I think Ali probably beats him through greater determination in a tough scrap.

I favor him over Marciano and Frazier, and I think he's a toss-up against Louis, although I'd probably slightly favor Lennox in that one myself.

 

So do you all view Lennox as "one of your own"?

As Emanuel Sterward often tells me, he was really almost like a man of four nations.
