The Reputation of Lennox Lewis?

Only Ali and Louis can be above him in reality, Holmes competition dosent rank with Lennox etc.

Ali had the best comp and Joe Louis was incredibly consistent for around 15 years avenging schemiling, only lost 3 in total.

 

No argument with Ali and Louis but I think Lewis/ Holmes is very debatable mate.

 

It's improved with time, yes certainly, a great deal since he retired!!

I really think it's more to do with the obvious H2H aspect, rather than his resume: Lewis was clearly real class.

A top fighter and one who'd give any HW in history a very good fight.

 

Foreigners athletes representing the UK or any of the seperate 4 countries is very common. Happens all the time in rugby, cricket and football. Even in tennis you have Greg Rusedski, and there is regular speculation about poaching of decent foreign tennis players. There's the odd comment but most of them ae widely respected and liked. Often they have family ties to the UK but not always.

No it doesn't, not in England, not for the national football team anyway. It happens in Spain, Germany, France, Croatia etc....

Even if one talks about cricket, the likes of Peterson's mother is English and as far as Lennox is concerned, he was born in England, London England.

I think those are fair enough connections, we're not talking about great great granddads or anything.

All England football players have very close connections to the national side they play for and it's a big debate at the moment if we should allow those who have lived in the country for just a few years (6 years I think it is) into the side, like others others do: at the moment we don't, unlike many others!!

 

As a slight tangent, Lewis is rightly held in higher esteem nowadays imo. He is also seen as more British than he was on his climb up the rankings, at least by the general public. I seem to remember people comparing him to Greg Rusedski (the British tennis player with a Canadian accent) at the time. As far as i am concerned Lewis is British Jamaican, he always seemed to be proud of both heritages but facts tell you that he was born and fought as a Brit.
