You have a very ignorant way of thinking. To have a belief such as "there aren't any good heavyweight boxers in the world today", is extremely closed minded and moronic. WE ARE TALKING ABOUT THE TOP BOXERS IN THE WORLD! Just because they don't have name carrying star power doesn't mean that they aren't very good, or great boxers. Any time that American boxers aren't out in front, people act like it is a downtime in the division. Europeans are simply taking over at that weight, because they are better right now. They don't have huge names over here, so we act like they are nobody. Hell, we even treat our top boxers like ****, because they lose to them... and act like all of our boxers suck, because they aren't Champs.

I agree, only the Peter fight impressed me, which happend in sept or oct of 05. I feel Wlad has improved, but has stayed away from fighters with power since fighting Peter, who floored and hurt him in there last fight. Wins over Guys like "No pop" Brock, old Bryd, Journeyman Austin, and a one-eyed Brewster, sorry there not the type of wins that are going to make you a great.

Brock was an undefeated contender, he beat Byrd before in Byrd's prime, Peter was the cheater with his neck punches. Wlad clinched 91 times in 12 rounds, Holyfield clinched 186 times against Tyson in less than 11 full rounds. You are a disgrace to this forum.

Wlad is mad impressive. He's so much better than the whole field it almost hurts him to a degree. IMO, it may serve him better to let somebody have a little chance before he blasts the **** out of them.

Im not American for one thing and can you honestly tell me any of these guys are on Wlads level, guys like Brock are so far below him that there is nothing to be impressed about him taking 8 or so rounds to finish him off. The fact is that Maskaev is at the end of the road, Chagaev looked poor versus a poor opponent in Skelton, Ibragamov is average and his title is irrelevant to finding an Undisputed champion, Wlad is so far above these guys that we just dont know if he has learnt how to survive when hit, none of these guys could hit him, he sure looked ropey in the Peter fight and we all saw how poor Peter looked versus McLine.

Posts like this expose lack of reason and intelligence.

He fought and beat the fighter considered the most powerful in the division in a fight he didn't have to take and no one else wanted (Peter), yet you then try to discredit him for avoiding punchers....that makes no sense.

    Byrd to win a belt.

Brock was the highest rated undefeated American heavyweight who was coming off one of the most vicious ko's ever.

    Austin was a mandatory.

    And Brewster was revenge.

There was a rhyme, reason, or need for every fight Wlad has taken since Peter.

But no matter what you say or try and claim, Wlad beating 17-20 contenders or champions or ex-champions before the age of 32 can't be disputed.

Yes, his resurgence under Steward has been quite impressive

I don't see him losing for a long time

You take each fighter, and judge them entirely on how they look in their worst performances? Every fighter has bad performanaces... it is boxing. There are bad stylist match-ups... sometimes fighters just can't get things going... a bad day... sick... a headache.. I mean you act like one bad performance defines a career. If that is all that we did, then nobody would ever be worthwhile.

Just because Wlad's skill level is so great... doesn't mean that the rest of the world sucks at boxing. He is just a phenom. You don't normally get a huge guy, with top speed, one punch knockout power in both hands, very good footwork, hard to hit, great jab, great right hand, great left hook, and can hook off of the jab, ability to put together great combinations when needed... ect... It isn't as if those types of fighters come along all the time. He is just a very gifted athlete who is in the midst of his prime, mentally and physically right now.

I don't think anything has changed. They are just being more careful in choosing his opponents.

I like to see knockouts, I like wlad. I like him more when he gets knocked out and I'll get to see that happen again much sooner than his new found fan club will admit to.

Agreed. Wlad's also has wins over other previously ranked ring magazine fighters in McCline, and Barrett. If Wald beats Iggy, he will have at least 8 wins over Ring Magazine ranked guys, an 11-2 record in world title fights, and two major world title belts. I think Wlad proved he is the best in the world today, and at age 31 has plenty of boxing left in him.

Well, if Golota keeps winning hopefully they'll meet. Andrew is a seasoned fighter with still enough size, skill and power.
