Next opponent lined up: Daniel "The Rooster" González on the Andrade vs. Akavov undercard on January 18th @ the Hulu Theater in NYC.

González is 17-1-1 (7), with the one loss a TKO at the hands of Danny O'Connor (who's every bit as much a feather-fist as is Algieri) - so the par here is a stoppage within 10, if the "Fighting Collegian" wants to punch his proverbial ticket for bigger opportunities in 2019.

Isn't it kind of obvious that naturally smaller men punch with less force and also cant absorb the same amount of force?

So while yes if you drain too hard you will just sap your own power and chin. But if you are tall and skinny and make weight then why not cut weight and beat on the smallest men possible.

The dangers of severe weight-cuts mitigate (if not eclipse) the potential benefits. For every {insert successes the likes of Broner's reigns at super feather & lightweight} there is a countermeasure anecdote such as {insert Chad Dawson vs. Andre Ward}.

Plus the practice is just cowardly, this is a form of gaining an unfair edge and getting away with it due to boxing's rules and customs of day-before weigh-ins leaving a loophole - no less so a cowardly version of gaining an unfair edge and technically getting away with it than PED abuse that is either cleverly masked from testing, or dodging testing altogether. Boxers should always be shamed for picking on naturally much smaller guys, and laughed at when it blows up in their face because draining themselves bites them in the ass leaving them with a loss. Always.

Don't know why Algieri keeps boxing. He'd probably make more money as a nutritionist.

He could become a nutrition coach for boxers. That way, he'd still be in boxing.

I pretty much agree. But lets say for example a fighter wants to make 160 pound limit for example. Hes a ginormous Middleweight and he basically lives an absurdly disciplined lifestyle. No snacks, desserts, cookies, alcohol, etc. Always trains and watches his weight. He able to boil down to an unnatural weight through self discipline and pick on smaller men. Does this sound familiar? That's Bernard Hopkins. Should he be ridiculed for boiling down and keeping weight off his naturally larger frame?

It's a slippery slope though I would think. Because most fighters cut weight and keep weight off. Some are just more disciplined than others. And/or can dehydrate their bodies better.
