Thx IB. Diaz Looked fairly good, dunno about his chances at LW though... I see him ending up in Brandon Rios type of fights but that's not very healthy.
:think It might be the perfect time for harvesting a Rios, whose recent exploits may have taken enough from him to render him less dangerous and more beatable while still retaining big name value.
For those interested Juan supposedly was accepted into law school but didnt attent and instead invested in local businesses, especially a trucking business with his brother that supposedly is very succesful for him bringing in a self reported revenue of 1.2 mil a year. -- In my code breaker analysis, Juan probably took a hit on some of his investments and ended up returning to boxing to stack his money up again.
...or the bug bit him. Some guys do get hooked. (pun semi-intentional) Look at Hopkins. Financially he is all set, and yet here he is.
Good stuff from Diaz. Wouldn't mind seeing him move back up the rankings and get a meaningful fight in not that long. Give me Juan Diaz vs. Gavin Rees!
If he had left on his own instead of taking the 3 losses from Paulie and the brutal Marquez beatings I would agree, but for all intents and purposes Juan was ran out of boxing and most of us at the time were happy to hear of his retiring, especially if he was going to have to compete at 140. I hope it is just the bug, but I don't know.
Thanks for posting IB. Didn't catch it before. Eh.... not a fan of a guy who probably wont accomplish much more taking more punishment, makes the brain damage received that much more pointless. But that's part of the sport unfortunately. We will see but I expect to see him build back up with guys he should beat then get beat up when he faces a top guy. That being said, he looks much much better then I thought he would look. Maybe Im wrong and he will be a serious threat and maybe win a meaningful fight on this comeback. He was a beast in his prime though, and I wish him all the best.
BB could still give the top LW's a run... The division is wide open right now. I could see a Vasquez/Diaz fight going down.
I don't think much of anyone caught it, unless they were physically there. Well over 99% of boxing fans were probably watching Donaire vs. Rigondeaux (which ran at the same exact time). :amen
Juan would actually force Miguel to engage a bit. It wouldn't be a snooze-fest with one guy freezing in place and staring helplessly like Vasquez vs. Gesta, that much is certain.
Actually as a trucker "brokerage" difference from "company." His done well very well I have friends that have contracted his company for freight and these guys are good. Not to mention his radio show....... His business may have only reported 1.2 million on paper but these cats made more. Law school is still a possibility for him as he is still very young. The funny thing is that alot of organizations that contract his company have no clue the CEO is pro boxer. Its on their website but most are looking for other information.
