the return of superman legacy for the next julio ceasar chavez

from the time that julio ceasar chavez started to decline, mexico presented some exiting and very good quality fighters that took stage and represented mexico as a prime fighting force for the lower weight class. from rugged fighters like ceasar soto, daniel zaragoza, nester garza, victor rabenelas.... to masterfull boxers like maneul medina, fernando monteil and miguel lora.... to crowd pleasing fighters like jose luis castillo, raphael marquez, israel vazquez the list goes on and there must be at least 50 other world champions that have came a past from mexico after the decline of chavez.

what strikes me as interesting about the decline of chavez is that despite possibly a hundred world champions from mexico that have came from the last 15 years, there where only three fighters that where exclusively talked about to become the "next jcc".

these three where not necessarily better then the countless other talented mexican fighters but like superman in the comics... the where replacements that where called up that displayed a echo of familiarity towards the greatest mexican fighter of all time.

i remember watching tapes of these fighters and the numerous comments during their ring entrances and magazine articles that they where almost chosen to be the next chavez. gonzalez for his title defenses and personality, campus for his glossy record and physical strength and barrera for his left hook and bull like early style of fighting.
