Or maybe all the people who espouse all this nonsense about what the "sweet science" is or isn't, only see what they want to see, as in, anyone who comes to fight and is a tad bit aggressive is relegated to the short bus full of dunderheaded come forward troglodytic plodding cavemen. Well... its a pity they don't broaden their understanding of the sport, because they don't know what they're missing, and its not that hard to see, all they have to do is look... well, look closely. Once they see it, they can't unsee it, it becomes as obvious as the nose on their face.

Disclaimer: I have pretty bad OCD, the real and unhip painful kind, and this part of my OCD is almost involuntary, I analyze almost everyone and everything, incessantly, I pick up on patterns, rhythms and inconsistencies very easily. Which in some ways gives me the upper hand over people who just go with the flow and shut their brains off. I've never had that luxury, not even when I sleep. It always helped me in understanding this sport on a far more intricate level than many, not to say I get it more than others, many might see stuff that I miss, but whatever... I've turned that particular negative of mine into a positive. Now onto seeing what I see, that others often don't.

Rhythm as I've pointed out in my Kovalev, Lomachenko and Calzaghe threads, is one of if not the most important aspects in the game, that sadly most fighters fail to comprehend, and it never crosses their mind to develop a unique rhythm of their own. Counter punchers rely heavily on their reflexes and timing, which they hone for years, and once they get that worked out and down pat, most opponents they'll face will be easy money. Because most fighters have a similar internal and usually quite repetitive rhythm that never changes, once you've seen one, you've seen them all. Sadly since no one ever sits them down and properly explains to them the concept, they'll never fully understand what they're lacking and the needed improvements and adjustments to make against future opponents to get the job done. So they will walk into the same counter over and over again, like a broken record playing those same 2 or 3 notes repeatedly, incapable of making the preciously needed adjustment.

So.. onto Horn. I picked Horn to beat Pacquiao precisely due to his absolutely insane rhythm. I had the benefit of actually knowing who Horn was before the fight, I'd sat up and done a few RBR's for his fights at 6am in the morning, and had seen roughly 5 or 6 of his fights. But sometimes even I can get lazy, while I recognized that Horn was awkward when doing the RBR's, a few weeks after the Pac match was announced I decided tp revisit a few of those matches to take a much closer look. And after watching a little more closely, I picked Horn without hesitation, I knew he was a stylistic nightmare for Manny, that Arum, Top Rank, Roach and the Pacman himself were completely oblivious to. They had no idea the sly all knowing trap that Horn had laid for them, and they took the bait, hook line and sinker.

Jeff's in ring style is like a Boxing version of Chaos Theory, a tiny little subtle movement here and there is all he needs to completely offset the timing of his opponents and with it, their entire gameplan. And they never see it coming and fail to comprehend why they're having such issues with him. He's constantly chaotically, frantically moving, in a manner not dissimilar to Manny himself, not only his feet and his head, but at times his entire body, constantly shifting and bouncing up and down, to the left and right and in and out repeatedly, never attacking in a straight line, or taking the same route twice. Sometimes he circles to the left away from Manny's power hand, winging in an awkward unseen left hook his opponents can't adequately prepare for. Sometimes he makes a stutter step to the right, shifting his head just out of range while lunging in with his straight right. Then when the notion strikes him, his offense becomes his defense, as he juts in in a straight line behind a barrage of compact rapid fire one twos, most of them feints, done for the expressed intention of successfully cutting the distance and getting on the inside, and getting his opponent to keep their hands at home. Once on the inside, his opponent is so mentally overwhelmed at how easily he got in their grill, they believing they're in immediate danger, shell up, while he lands a volley of body shots, when they get comfortable with him on the inside, and try to counter him, he simply parries and rolls with their incoming fire, sometimes with his entire body and slithers out the side door away from their power hand.

Its all intentional, he's setting a damn near impossible to time chaotic rhythm, its controlled madness, the only person in the ring who knows what he's going to do next is Jeff. Another thing that is easily missed by many is that he's also an excellent counter puncher, a taunting baiting counter puncher, who uses his excellent reflexes to his advantage marvelously, putting his head out there as a not so available target, since its always just out of range to entice guys into committing to a punch, and on his way out of the door, he lands a pull counter on them, that they never see coming. His unorthodox mind is processing a nonlinear continually mutating masterplan that his opponents don't even have no concept of how to decode or unlock.

Also, his defense is deceptively brilliant, he's like a ****d up hairless mongoose in there, or a greased eel, he gyrates, slithers and rolls his entire body away from shots, while blocking the incoming fire from the other side with his arms, shoulders, elbows and back, incessantly slipping and sliding while keeping his body pressed as close to their as possible to smother any attempts at offense. At times he looks like a slowed down version of Neo when he splits into the multiple man version of himself. On top of that, he has a little Ward in him as well, he's like an 10 armed octopus, smothering, strong arming and blocking everything he sees them attempt, his entire body is aware and each part at times seems to have a mind of its own, independently processing what each part has to do to block or flat out hold down next. Then of course we can't forget about how rough he is, he uses every advantage at his disposal to get the job done, he'll lead with his head, forearms, shoulders, and that's his opponents problem to deal with. He clubs, pounds, scratches, claws, headbutts, roughhouses, throws, anything to offset the rhythm and keep them befuddled, bewildered and flabbergasted.

The reason people seem to think he's a terrible boxer, is because they can't pin him down or tie him to a particular style, and that's exactly what Horn wants, because he doesn't have one. Being what appears to be a mess is his intent. He's a pugilistic chameleon, sometimes adjusting and cycling through 3 or 4 styles per round, he can be the out boxer relying on his jab, the backfoot counter puncher, a Maravilla like aggressive counter puncher, a swarmer, a pressure fighter, a volume puncher, a body puncher, a brawler and even a toe to toe slugger if need be. Most importantly he is the walking talking embodiment of a rhythm breaker, his entire style is predicated on that and that alone, his rhythm is so hectic, frantic, frenetic and nonlinear, its borderline impossible for anyone to mentally process how to get the timing of, because his rhythm is basically cyclothymic, or bi-polar, its always shifting, his movement is never linear, there is absolutely nothing that is predictable about Jeff Horn. He's functioning in his own little world in there, concocting a masterwork that no one can fully understand or process until the final bell rings, trapping his opponents in his web of chaos, offsetting their rhythm every time he offsets his, he frazzles his opponents mentally, overwhelms them and ultimately short circuits them causing them to mentally unravel. Because they have no idea what to do next, because they have no idea what he's going to do next, and that's just the way The Hornet wants it.

Jeff Horn is the amalgamation of every awkward style known to man, its unmitigated arrhythmic schizophrenic chaos, he is a pugilistic madman, painting a distorted maniacal masterpiece in a chamber in his mind, that no one has the key for. In other words, he's every fighters worst nightmare.

How can adequately prepare yourself to get the rhythm of an improvisational virtuoso who jarringly shifts their rhythm every few seconds with every move they make, and every breath they take? The answer is... you can't.

Now does that sound like an easy opponent to you?

I'm pretty sure this article was every bit as hectic and frantic as Jeff Horn's in ring style. Was that intentional?

You're right, I was wrong, Horn sucks, so I guess that means Crawford's win over him is hollow and means absolutely nothing. Bud deserves zero credit. I'm totally cool with that.

You're not smart enough to put words in my mouth nor am I dumb enough to let you. I never said Horn sucks and you know that. What I said was that your rythm theory was wrong. What your theory fails to take into consideration is the opponents ability to adapt. Horn was sucessful against the likes of Pac because Pac never really could adapt well and when he stepped in the ring with Horn, Pac had a tough go at it. I still say Pac got jobbed but, it's over now. Crawford on the other hand can adapt and once he got the rythm down he had an easy time with Horn. Another variable your theory fails to address is Horns ability to adapt. Lets just say adaptation is not one of Horns strong suites and leave it at that. After it's all said and done, you're still one of the most knowledgable posters on this site. We may have our differences but, you know your sh!t!

Crawford whooped horn. I knew his only shot was to rough up Crawford, but he tried to fight in the center of the ring and you can't do that with bud. He's one of the best technicians in the game! Period.

Right now can we finally get Bud into a fight with an A level opponent?

135 and 140 wasn' really his fault as the divisions where devoid of any talent or ant depth but now he' at 147 WE NEED to see him in genuine fights to see if he is legit as a top 3 P4P guy and it' not just "the eye test".

Horn was the weak champion at 147, but now comes the graft.

Crawford won every round by a wide margin. Not only did he thoroughly outbox Horn, as we all expected, he manhandled Horn when he tried to wrestle.

Nowhere did I say in my opening post that Horn would beat Crawford. Yes I eventually picked him because my hand was forced, after all, I kind of had to.

You should all be thrilled by this thread, it makes an argument that Horn is a very underrated, very skilled fighter, and that Bud's win over him was quite impressive.

You should have all came on here and praise the toughness and grit, and yes trickiness Horn showed early.

But in your shark like feeding frenzy to blow smoke up your own asses and pat yourselves on the back, while tearing me down, that you managed to tear down and invalidate, what should of been considered a decent win.

So predictable.

Horn got beaten from pillar to post, never bet against Crawford unless it’s Spence which is a 50-50, anyone else Crawford is gunna box circles round them.

Yep - he was constantly using the same setup and either getting tied up or falling off the same direction.

Crawford boxed exceptionally well and was beautifully composed IMO.

That's actually correct.

The difference is manny couldn't adapt. Crawthug managed to adapt and read Horn like a book. Timed him and let him dig his own grave
