Ok this main event is so bull****. The card itself is actually a pretty good card. Silva is fighting Brunson which is quite an interesting one to watch, Jacare vs Tim Boetsch (Jacare should run through him), Glover's fighting, and Jim Miller is facing Poirier. The card itself isn't too bad (maybe more of a fight night card though). The main event, however, is for the new UFC Women's Featherweight Championship. Former Women's Bantamweight champion, Holly Holm, faces #10 ranked Bantamweight Jermaine de Randamie for the new 145 title. de Randamie, who has won 3 out of her last 4, has jumped at this chance (as you would in her position). She has the chance to be a UFC champion, so why not - she doesn't deserve this title shot, the last time she faced anyone of any calibur was Amanda Nunes and she lost. The same goes for Holm. She may be ranked #3 in the Women's Bantamweight division but she's lost her last two fights. Losing to Meisha Tate for the title and losing her last fight against fellow striker Valentina Shevchenko. This main event is a joke in all honesty. It's just a way of opening up a new division. Where's Cyborg when you need her?
Agree this new woman's 145 division is a complete joke. Ronda will never be seen again and Cyborg just got popped for Ped's AGAIN so they are both now irrelevant and it's obvious that is the ONLY reason the ufc set up this bogus division, for Cyborg and maybe Ronda. Holm and De Randamie can both make 135 and have been LOSING there recently so they can just fight there imo and scape this stupid 145 lb division. The UFC is turning into boxing with regards to bogus/worthless titles more and more these days which is really worrying for the fans because that is what orginally was so great about the ufc, the best fighting the best and the champion was the true champion of the weight class.
I don't like how they shoved WMMA down out throats.. But that's not a terrible matchup, both are accomplished strikers so it should at least make for a good display of high level stand up technique in MMA. This is one of the few WMMA matches I wouldn't fuss over. Holm has really cut her teeth so she's earned my respect and admiration.
I got this mixed up with this weeks card... Yeah **** that, thought this was a Fox card. The UFC needs to stop charging for junk cards. This weeks Fox card actually kicks the crap out of this thing.
But shes lost her last 2 fights, she doesn't deserve a title shot even if it is for another division (that she's never fought in)
