I think that Montiel will knockout or stop Mijares if and when they ever meet in the ring.

I doubt it will happen, Arce will probably be a ***** and exercise his mandatory status and get schooled by Mijares a 2nd time, they both want the fight.

But Ill pick Montiel over Mijares too

It will be a good, competetive fight, but Mijares' superior skill set and handspeed should get him the win. Montiel doesn't handle slick boxers well (Gorres/Too Sharp/Gonzales) and he's been troubled by southpaws in the past.

I think you guys are underestimating Montiel's skills ... his speed, movement, and ring savvy.

I think as far as the skills department goes Montiel is up there with Mijares ... I think Mirjares is very hittable and will get hit by some of those right hands.

Montiel is in a different league than Carlos Navarro --

Tight trunks kicks Mijares ass. He is not a slick boxer. He just has fast hands and throws good combinations. He is there to be hit and Montiel will get to that body. Mark my words.

    Agree!!!

Mijares is sleeker than Gorres although the same Feather fisted. Donaire will beat both Mijares and Montiel.

I'm not underestimating him at all, I take him for what he is- An elite fighter with very good power, speed, timing and body punching but is prone to being outboxed by slick fighters. I feel Mijares edges him in the speed department, aswell as being a better mover. I'll admit he does have ring savvy though.

You're right they are both very skillfull fighters who are great at their respective styles. But it is in their styles that I feel Mijares has the edge in the matchup. His slick, southpaw style is the same that has caused Montiel trouble in the past.

About Mijares being very hittable, this is definitaley not the case. He's probably has one of the best defences in boxing, he slips, blocks, deflects and rolls with punches extremely well. He does get hit with the odd shot or two, but he nearly always turns with the punch absorbing some of its impact.
Mijares has fought some good punchers aswell (Arce/Munoz/Kawashima) and has shown his ability to take his opponents power very well.

Navarro threw around 1350 punches at Mijares, landing at about 15%. The fact that Mijares can avoid this many punches against a usually accurate fighter proves that he does indeed have good defence. It is even more impressive due to much of the fighting being fought up-close.

I think you meant Jose Navarro. This is stupid logic, I could easily say that Mijares is in a different league to Z Gorres (Who many had beating Montiel) and that Mijares will school Montiel. I leave this sought of logic out of my posts.

I feel Mijares will beat Montiel in a good, competitive fight (116-112). Montiel will prove himself to be very good fighter, just unable to beat Mijares.

I give Donaire much better chances than Montiel. I just dont see Montiel as the guy who can pull it off. Maybe I'm wrong and admittedly there's nothing wrong with either fight being made.
