let me ask you, does Donaire's next opponent bring more fans than Rigo? Did Narvaez bring more fans than Rigo could?
I was talking to some Argentinians friends about boxing and they didn't know about Martinez...leave alone Narvaez. And the African dude he's fighting next is very well known...at his house at dinner time. Nonito is just living off the fights against montiel and darchiyan . And don't be surprise if he fights Mijares next.
I'd like Rigo to fight in Argentina against Narvaez. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KmS-1dl3HOM[/ame] Then he deserves a SHOT. :happy:happy
That's not the point, Rigo is a high risk/low reward opponent The others are low risk/low reward, big difference A star like Donaire won't fight an opponent that can potentially humilliate him if the purse ain't good enough, which is inevitable when you have zero fanbase like in Rigo's case.
this is pretty much it. Rigo is too good for his own good . . . for him to get a shot at the big time he has to get the networks behind him and the fans behind him. Unfortunately, he does not bring great numbers when he boxes and I do not see a lot of talk about him on the web or within boxing circles. I think he is easily a top ten guy and a fight with donaire would be great but there has to be a demand for what really is a mega fight
its so obvious Nonito wants nothing to do with Rigo. but can he at least stop talking **** if doesnt want to fight him?
At this point Rigo is a HIGH reward fight, most boxing fans recognize him as an elite 122 pounder. Alot of boxing fans are demanding this fight
I have completely warmed up to Mr. Rigondeaux. I didn't like him because of an intrview he gave Big Time Seckback but he has made a believer of me. I think he's great for the sport of boxing and I predict that he will sit atop the P4P list within the next 5 years. I'm a fan hard body. I'm looking forward to seeing how he handles some of the top fighters in his division. I think he can beat them all.
Mathebula isn't all that bad (he did give Caballero hell at 122), and it wouldn't surprise me if he gave Donaire a tougher than expected evening..at least for a while. Don;t get me wrong, I'd rather see Donaire fight Rigo, too...And I do think that after Rigo's last performance, it's a fight that would now attract quite a bit of interest. But Mathebula is a decent 122lb fighter, and even if he's the weakest of the titleholders at 122, he's still a good solid fighter in the division. He'd be a decent test for Donaire, Rigo, or Nishioka (let's not forget about him, either).
