The ring belt

I know for sure we will have some clearity at S.Middle soon with the Ring belt.In this case we will have a clear cut #1.And you will be able to look at the person holding the Ring belt afterwards as the best in that division.

 

Ok, but the Ring belt is still generally the best fighter in the division. And it's won and lost in the ring.

It has flaws....so does everything else in every sport.

 

No, most people may have the winner as their champion but there will still be others who claim someone else is champ.

This is why it is important IMO to have your own champions, not what the WBA thinks, not what the WBC thinks, not even what The Ring thinks, but what you think.

 

Rock/Paper/Scissors. Nadal can beat Federer because he's simply got his number. However, against the rest of the world, Federer dominates like no other in history. Boxing has similar cases, where one guy may be able to handle everyone but one guy. Ali-Frazier-Foreman.

 

Nadal has only had success against Federer on Clay. Federer has dominated him on all other surfaces.

 

Said it before I did. Federer beats Nadal nearly every time in every tourney except the French Open

 

b/c the "best" has to get in the ring and prove it, and once your in the ring anything can happen.

 

i agree the ring belts are flawd like the title was flawed back in the days of one title. being world champ doesn't always mean you are the best as the early decades of the 20th century proved

 

Rocky was the Ring champion, says so on the belt "Ring Magazine Award". He beat Apollo Creed who was 46-0 46KOs.
There must have been other champions at the time, Joe Frazier etc who held the two alphabet titles. Creed was the big named fighter and fought what would bring him the most money.

 

I like Ring, but that belt isnt necessarily THE BELT:nono


Until and unless the sport of Boxing, gets real legitimate and straight management as a whole?? We're stuck in the landscape of alpha soup and ring.

Boxing needs NFL style management. One Commission that oversee's unified guidleines and rules. They orgs and ring could still be represented as the structure in the sport all participating under a uniform system.

The fighters make the belts and always will!!!!!:good Fight the best, beat the best, and let victories stake the claim, not groups with initials, corruption, and trinkets.

 

Unfortunately, after he beat Creed he decided to take on a steady diet of setups instead of conducting himself like a true Philadelphia fighter. His lack of focus resulted in him getting his beat by the hard hitting, yet unskilled, Clubber Lang. Fortunately he got his act together, and reclaimed his belt and had another succesful run that ended when he beat Drago in a 15 round war that left him with brain damage that ended his career(brain damage that some how went away 15 years later).

I can't speak on the Ring, but when I subscribed to Boxing Digest, it took months for my first magazine to arrive.
