I agree....its very inconsistent to make an exception even though the decison was terrible. I guess they made an executive decison...or someone did at Ring to NOT rank TIM based on a "win" no one credits him for. Usually they remove fighters from the P4P ranks it they a ranked fighter is inactive for a calendar year or has retired....the Ring however made a special exception in Floyd's case keeping him ranked as #1 until Pac replaced him....so there have been other inconsistent action by Ring......it really hasn't been the same since DLH bought it.
You're mistaken. The rule is actually you get dropped if you don't schedule a fight in a year within your last fight. Mayweather fought Hatton December 8th 2007. After Pacquiao beat De La Hoya on December 6th 2008, Pacquiao was ranked number 1.
The Ring has ignored MANY (and all, really) robberies from the time of it's begining. Santa Cruz vs Casamayor was one of the worst I'd EVER seen, and they had to accept the judges verdict....because as they said once they opened that door where do they stop? Well I guess we'll see.... Robbery or not, that's very disappointing to see.
very inconsistent? It's unprecendented. They have many times gone on and on about how terrible a decision was, but that they had to abide to the policy LONG set in stone around there.
:deal Indeed. On the topic, Santa Cruz vs Casamayor was for the RING Championship, and although everybody and their brother was outraged and their mail room was flooding with requests to do something about it, they made it clear that they could not. Oh the times, they are a changin'...........
Ring Magazine are clearly some Pacquaio meat riders...lol. Floyd just moved up to 154lbs for the second time and beat his opponent with out a catch weight decively, and became the #1 fighter in the 154lb weight class. How is that not better then what Pac has done in his last two fights. He lost to a 38yr old Marquez, and was giving the win as a gift, and just lost to Bradley who was giving the win as a gift. Pac is titleless and Floyd still remains undefeated and champion. **** Ring Magazine, I'm going off my own judement instead of dancing to the tunes that the Pied Piper is playing.
Because sometimes you have to say enough is enough and take a stand. How and when really doesn't matter. You cant change anything if you chose to be a mealy mouthed ***** all your life.
No doubt their standards have slipped, but it's not unprecedented, see Williams Lara: http://ringtv.craveonline.com/blog/...iams-drops-lara-and-molina-debuts-in-rankings
Right now, Andre Ward should be the P4P #1. He is the reigning Fighter of the Year, and the hottest name in boxing right now. He is coming off a win against Carl Froch, who scored a brutal knockout against Lucian Bute. If you were really unbiased, you would see it this way...
