Manny Pacquiao has requested that he remain The Ring junior welterweight champion because he intends to defend the title following his March 13th bout with Joshua Clottey, his second consecutive fight at welterweight. The Ring has honored Pacquiao's request, but has informed him that if he does not defend the 140 pound title in his next fight, The Ring will consider in tantamount to relinquishing the belt and vacate the title.

if he loses he will defend, if he wins he will stay at welter.

It is all yapping until after Saturday. Ring is full of crap for even mentioning this before the fight. The writing is on the wall.

OK. Let's see. Pac beats Clotty. Shane beats Floyd. Shane has already said he would go all the way down to 140 to fight Pac...... :think Would Floyd?.....:think

****, that's kind of ridiculous. they were all well and dandy letting calzaghe defend smw and lhw. their policy is based on the principal that you can only lose the title in the ring. they've said someone will be pressured to defend but they don't strip champions. guess not...

Its just another alphabet title. Their bias to pac is unprecendeted as of late for some reason.

If he ever comes back to 140, a pac-bradley fight will be the best fight for him. (If pac-floyd/pac-shane doesn't materialize at the end of 2010)

The ring has really bullshitted their "title". their steadfast rules have always been up to interpretation at their whim.

they'll let some titilist fight bull **** fighters once year, and ignore another guy cleaning out the top ten in the same division.

The Ring is just as corrupts as any of them.

got to say this is double talk. from ring their policy says the fighter can only lose the title in the ring or by choosing to Vacate. it's been less then a year that pac has won the 140 lbs title thats a bit of BS from the Ring
