Dawson is just desperate for big money fights, he wants the money and no one can blame him for it but to completely ignore that Hopkins is beyond that as 45 and it's already is indeed a miracle that he's considered a threat and a legitimate opponent for these young guys is insane.

honestly the word noob really needs to stop being used as an insult it makes people like internet geeks , the bottom line is a journalistic periodical like the ring should never show an overwhelming personal bias like this towards one fighter specifically when they are a sanctioning body for a title belt, fighters can call out anyone they choose, if hopkins isnt retired then he is subject to the same treatment other fighters are, untill he retires all is fair game, however hopkins has done enough in his career to fight who he chooses, so i dont have a problem with hop not fighting dawson, but i do have a problem with people telling dawson he shouldnt call hopkins out, dawson wants to be the best, so to be the best you have to beat the best, and hopkins is still one of the best

    Ex-****in-actly

People say hops is still top 10 p4p so if that is the case then he should be fighting the top guys. Either retire or fight !

its the same as Khan wanting to be called world champ but still pick and choose who he fights.

if you want to be considered a top guy you have to fight !

I think that The Ring should drop Hopkins off there Light Heavy list if this is the view they hold since a fight between Chad and Hop would declare a Champ according to their ratings.

Hopkins should be flattered. Most guys his age are completely irrelevant.

and yet isn't the same mag rating hopkins in their top 10 p4p list, still?

so maybe if he needs different matchmaking rules to most top fighters, then perhaps he's not as good at this stage as the magazine rates him.

that said, chad dawson is effing boring against old fighters, and fights to the old slow pace of the likes of tarver and johnson. so a hopkins fight would be dreadful.

chad is fighting a young(ish) gun, pascal, in what could be an exciting battle with more fireworks. pascal has great grit, good speed, good reflexes. chad should be forgetting the old names. he has no clout to cherry pick, so how about taking on cloud, campillo, etc?

lmao... It did seem kind of weird they would have a quote like that posted under pictures of Hopkins demonstrating how to throw a proper bodyshot with Danny Davis.

Hopkins has looked good in his last few fights, he`s still a p4p elite fighter until proven otherwise.... if he has the embarrassment to fight a shot RJJ then he should at least accept the challenge of Dawson which IMO is a more fair match-up at this stage of everyone`s career so, no, I dont agree with that mug Goldman.

Hopkins vs Dawson would be a competitive fight.... Hopkins vs Jones will be an easy Hopkins victory, Jones is finished.

:dealDo y'all know how boring Dawson-Hopkins most likely will be? If Dawson wants to fight someone they should be Cloud or Pascal because they still will be relevant after Hopkins and Dawson's "Beating up Grandpas" tour has to end. Hopkins shouldn't be obligated to fight Dawson because ummm he's 45 and has achieved what most fighters his age never acheived plus Dawson is not his mandatory. Jones has tormented Hopkins for years saying stuff like "I beat him so I deserve 60" so if he wants to face him shot or not then so be it.

Either the Ring is very biased or very ignorant on this. They have Hopkins at 2 in their lightheavyweight rankings and 4(above Dawson) on their pfp rankings. Then they go and say he is too old to be facing Dawson but they clearly, by ranking him where they do,feel he is still one of the best fighters in the world and on par with Dawson despite his age.

I doubt the author even believes what he is writing but instead stirring up a little controversy to help the bottom line. Dawson would be making a bad financial mistake and said to be ducking Hopkins by some if he didn't try to land a fight with Hopkins.
