I think he should at least consider to fight his mandatories at own
weight class or unify some belts here. There is no need to call out
fighters from lower division, the guys like Wright or Trinidad may
be skipped as well ... not mention that Erik Morales is lurking to find
    opponet recently.

Kessler and his people were offered a fight with Dawson by HBO and they turned it down.

Interesting ... was he also offering fight to Paul Williams
or at least did he have balls to call out Pavlik?

Why would Dawson ask to fight Williams? You'd be giving him more crap if he wanted to fight Paul. You know Pavlik wouldn't have a prayer against Dawson.

I got your point...but the situations differ.

Calzaghe had come out and ranted about how cooked (and he was/is) RJJ was and how that wasn't a fight he wanted only to spin around and accept it for a mega purse.

Hopkins has been dying for a rematch since about 1995.

    Yes.....i get your point:D

But i cant see how Hopkins and Jones can realistically expect the boxing world to get behind or excited for this fight when one man is coming off a humiliating loss.

Imo Hopkins does seem to be skirting around Dawson, and its a shame.

It's not a shame when the man is 45 years old, at that age he gets the choice of whom he wishes to fight even if their ranking doesn't correlate to his.

People make more excuses for Hopkins than any other fighter. If any other top level fighter pulled the **** that he did against Calzaghe, they would get lambasted.

Yeah you make a ton of sense there sir...

The incentive for Hopkins to fight Jones is revenge for a loss and believe it or not, people will watch the fight and Hopkins will make money from it. He'll also look really good against Jones, which will hopefully get him whatever fights he wants next.

He has absolutely zero incentive to fight Dawson right now. I'm not saying that's how things should be, but it is. And Dawson's doing nothing to make himself a more attractive option.

On the other hand, if Hopkins isn't willing to go after Dawson and try to claim the top spot at LHW, then imo he doesn't deserve to stay in the p4p rankings. If there's another p4p ranked guy (Dawson) who's at your weight and you want to be thought of as a top p4p guy, you have to fight him. But as an old guy, Hopkins shouldn't be criticized for not fighting Dawson. He should be bumped back in the rankings, but not criticized.

Imagine if Dawson and Hopkins fought, and Dawson won. Welp, looks like BHop finally got old. On top of that, it was the most boring fight anyone had ever seen. Dawson is now climbing the p4p list, and he's a boring fighter with absolutely no fan base. Plus, he's good, and damn hard to beat. Good luck getting any fights after that...

Imo, Dawson should pick up a belt or two by beating Pascal and Cloud. Johnson should fight Hopkins. Dawson should unify LHW and then move up in weight and bring some life to the heavyweight division. God knows he'd be a more interesting fighter if running away wasn't an option for him.
