That was two or three years ago and was 'turned down' by both sides. There was no actual offer, a hypothetical suggestion was made by HBO in discussions about potential opponents for Kessler. Mogens Palle said he wouldn't want the fight at 175. When the same hypothatical suggestion was made to Gary Shaw he said that they wouldn't do the fight below 175. Neither fighter was involved.

Dawson has every right to call out Hopkins but he won't be proving anything by beating Hopkins because everyone already expects him to win. Now if Pascal is ready and 100%, that's a different story because it's much harder to be 100% certain Dawson wins. Everyone knows 99.9% Dawson beats Hopkins now so it's pointless to set that fight up. Beating up the elderly is not fun anymore Dawson:lol:.jk

Bernard, you are the linear light-heavy champ.
Give Dawson the chance to take your title, the passng of the torch.
You are only the best if you fight the best and Chad is the number 1 contender.

    Yeah, bang on.

Hopkins need to say he's fighting only other old guys, for PPV only and get the **** out of any and all rankings - or he's fair game.

    One or the other.

Hopkins run at LHW after the Tarver fight was disgraceful, he took the ring title and refused to fight other LHWs, instead fighting Wink and Calslappy and than pavlik, had he not lost to slappy he'd still be calling himself the man at LHW while he looks for a MW or former Welter to move up and fight him. If he doesn't want any of Dawson that is fine but he should gracefully bow out and stop talking ****.

The Ring is protecting it's boy (hopkins). Dawson has every right to call out the guy who proclaims to be the top LHW in the world and has shown that he's not a shot fighter. I'm kind of a Hopkins fian, but he is full of **** and has arguably cherry picked many of his most significant recent fights (cept for calzaghe).

Nard is #4 on the Ring's P4P list. If he's the 4th best boxer in the world, why wouldn't they want Dawson to challenge the best?

It's unfair to fight Hopkins because if you win you have the "he's old, he can't keep up with young fighters" excuse and if you lose you get the "ha! he got beat by an old man". If Hopkins wants to say he's the best he needs to fight the best. Nothing wrong with the Pavlik fight because you have the "I beat the man who beat the man that beat me". RJJ fight is strickly for revenge and well I can forgive him for setting that up but a fight with Dawson then afterwards Pascal/Dawson would've been sweet!!!
