González, Cuadras, Ward and Kovalev are all probably top 15 p4p.

Him and Ward are like 1a and 1b right now, respectively.

    A good decision. Ward-Kovalev needs a rematch.

Though Gonzalez-Cuadras was close, once you get past the shock of Choco getting marked up and hurt, the quality of his work shines through.

...and, like I said above, Cuadras isn't just some chump. he's probably top 15 himself, in the same general territory as Ward and Kovalev.

Of course unlike divisional rankings the winner of a fight almost always has to be rated higher p4p as he'd almost always have proven he was better. But only almost always! Because there can be fights in which the lesser fighter managed to win, and his performance doesn't suggest he'd win every time they fight. Bradley deservedly beat Marquez, but more because Marquez was outhustled and gave Bradley rounds, and I think Marquez's skill and intelligence would've won an immediate rematch, so I kept him higher p4p. Because Kovalev-Ward was so close, you shouldn't rate the guy you think won higher p4p, but the guy you'd pick in a rematch.

I'm guessing you had Buster Douglas as your P4P #1 most of 1990?

    Definitely Gonzalez.

    Ward is second though.

Followed by Kovalev then Golovkin with Pacquiao at 5th.

I like the theory that P4P consideration should be taken based on how well these fighters would do against each other if they were of equal size.

Most people who talk about GGG losing to anyone, can only point to losing by going up and because he's too small.

Nobody at his weight has done anything to him, at all. He's disposed of everyone from his division willing to fight him with relative ease. Jacobs, Saunders, Canelo, Lara, etc. would all get worked if they actually wanted some.

Any threat comes at higher weight classes because GGG isn't a big middleweight and would be a small SMW and even smaller LHW. But if he was the right size for those divisions, he would give it to anyone in those too.

That's why I voted for him as my P4P number 1. I've seen Kovalev get dropped by a bum. I've seen Gonzalez win a controversial decision. I've seen Ward dropped and receive a gift win to stay undefeated. Canelo is an embarrassment to the sport.

Can't say any of that about GGG.

I think Gonzalez stays on top until we see another wizard who floats the way he does so effortlessly so synchronously so precisely so wisely i could go on but ill stop so shortly.

who in here thinks Gonzalez could have made easy work of his last opponent if he really wanted to? If he wanted to just dance and counter lets be honest would he have been touched up as much as he was?? The thing with pound 4 pound is some of the greatest pound 4 pound fighters lets pick sugar ray leanord for example they also take into account the entertainment factor. They try to entertain the crowd go for the stoppage even when they could easily coast to a decision victory.

I'm not a fan of the "pound for pound" concept but I really don't know what's so great about Ward and Kovalev.
Obviously they are world class fighters but they don't appear like great fighters to me, or anything close.
The quality of boxers in general must be at an all-time low.
