    Hmm...

    1. I think beating Cotto would accomplish this point.

    2. Mayweather has only been boring in 2 fights (Baldomir and De la Hoya, and I actually liked the De la Hoya fight...this is a subjective topic).

    3. Well, he's so good that he doesn't face any adversities. But he has been with an injured hand in some fights, and I think that also with a broken rib.

    4. ???

    5. He has done a lot for boxing.

#4. The Roy Jones part, the article compares the two at basically the same points in their careers. 29-30 years old and coming off of win #39, both p4p #1. The article pretty much bashes the **** out of RJJ for not doing anything decent after win #39 (10 round stoppage of Otis Grant) saying he basically just took trash fights and did not much.

So the author is calling for PBF to take a "different" path.

Well, I consider the wins over Ruiz, Tarver and Clinton Woods as notable wins in Jones' resume. Those wins (and also the wins over Toney, Virgil Hill and a green Hopkins) are probably his best wins.

But no doubt that Jones' resume is partially weak.

It won't be a problem with Mayweather (unless he retires right now) because their contexts are totally different. The Light Welterweight, Welterweight and Light Middleweight divisions right now are better than the Light Heavyweight and Cruiserweight divisions in Jones' era.

Fighting a rematch against De la Hoya, or fighting a guy like Vernon Forrest or Paul Williams, is much better than Derrick Harmon or Julio Cesar Gonzales. So I think Mayweather won't have Jones' problem.
