The Ring Magazine have updated their P4P list. Andre Ward is now the #1 P4P fighter in the world

Exactly my thoughts. And who in the **** has Ward BEATEN (Not given a gift) in the past year to have the #1 spot?? Lol! Like I said... Agenda by the boxing establishment. But it will end once Sergey forces that rematch

 

I'm aware, but when Kovalev vs Ward happened boxing media was claiming that their fight determined who was #1 P4P, and then when the outcome of the fight was decided Roman Gonzalez remained #1 which I suspect was because of the controversial nature of their fight. Then Roman Gonzalez loses in a decision he should have won and Ward becomes #1. It's silly to me. It's like they are both admitting that a robberies happen and then pretending that they are fair decisions at the same time. I don't really care that much since these lists have always been silly to me.

 

I see Ward retiring before that rematch, or at least holding out hoping age grips Kov lol

1. He was willing to move up and fight the #1 man at LtHW
2. Has huge heart.
3. That he is multi-dimensional
4. That he can adjust his fight plan in the middle of the fight.

 

That very well may be Wards plan. But he's now gotten on Sergey's bad side and it's showing. Lol! It definitely won't help lure the SOG into the ring again.

I agree but P4P has to be more. We have seen Gonzo get his ass purely beat in 2 fights back to back. He showed no pure boxing skills at all. No head movement, no adjustment with the jab, nothing. Just moving forward, swinging and getting hit like crazy.
Didn't people used to call that being a flat footed fighter. Quotes I used to hear," Mayweather not P4P , all he does is fight "flat footed Hispanics".
Roman Gonzales is a great entertaining fighter but he is a flat footed Hispanic stereotype ,not a P4P great. When has Marquez ever been P4P #1? Even after he decimated Pacquiao no one ever gave him his due.

He lost that fight dude. That fight wasn't as close as GGG's WIN over Jacobs. Kovalev has like 75% of the populations vote on who won that fight. And now Ward is trying to sleaze out of fighting Sergey again. That's why he doesn't belong in that number one spot.

If he has this heart you say he does... maybe he'll rematch Sergey in Russia??! Why not?! Sergey fought on his home soil!! Right smack dab in Moscow. I'm sure the WARRIOR Frohawk Andre is, he'll have ZERO issue with that right?!

It was a close fight bottom line. I understand Kovalev gets a lot of credit for scoring the KD. I've seen post arguing that Ward getting KD and barely landing more punches, 10 more to be exact, is sufficient to win the fight. The fact is that rounds are scored individually no way around it, this is boxing. This fight was very close, and an argument can be made fairly either way. I personally enjoy and support both fighters but I had Ward winning when I watched it. I could give it another watch and perhaps get a different outcome every time.

As far as the rematch, I think the honorable thing to do is to give Kov the rematch wherever is more profitable.

 

Close BUT clear win for Sergey. And the vast majority agree. And honestly the honorable thing to do if Ward is this SOG badass #1 PFP guy (He's not) is to say "You know what... I'll rematch Kovalev in his country and beat him there and END all doubts! He fought me as the champ on my home soil, let me do the same and PROVE I don't need hometown cooking!"

Think Andre will do that?? Lol!
