Who needs it? In my opinion, the online writers are better than the ones who write for the Ring, and its rankings suck to the max (where is Juan Manuel Lopez?). Their writers are tied into the BWAA which in turn is tied into the International Boxing Hall of Fame, and that makes me very sketchy about who is beholden to whom. Moreover, The Ring is now owned by you know

I have a subscription, 35 bucks a year or something like that, more than worth it

It's pricey, but there's a ton of stuff in each issue- I mean hours of reading. And the writing is excellent.

I didn't renew my subscription because it costs way too much. I think like $7 an issue. That's not worth it.

why does the location depend on whether you buy something or not?

    Correct.

It's been a veritable Golden Boy wank fest for the last two issues.

Could that be because Golden Boy owns the magazine?

For 35 bucks a year, it's not a painful expense. I've always liked the magazine from the days of Nat Fleisher to present. I see no big difference since DLH bought it.
When I first started buying it in 1970 it was 50 cents an issue, and I was making $1.75 an hour working in a pharmacy. Now it's 9 dollars an issue (although subscription is a much better deal), and I make 25 bucks an hour now, so considering , it costs about the same.

by the time it gets over here its way out of date

the internet will hit sales of The Ring (and all other magazines) really hard

i could see it ceasing to exist - theres just no need for it anymore
