The Ring now ranks Hatton above Williams p4p - who should be higher?

The Ring had Paul Williams in their p4p top 10.

Now Ricky Hatton has displaced him.

Who do you think should be ranked higher between the two, and why?

No hate please, give the reasons for your choice, and non-abusive genuine criticisms only.

Please, no embarrassing UK v US shite, this is to be a boxing discussion.

You gotta go with Hatton on this one, hatton has by far beatten and fought the better fighters, its not even really close. But this is coming from a guy that thinks that Hatton should be in the top 5. maybe in top 3...But thats me...Funny thing is Im not even really a Hatton fan, but the kid is pretty good, and should be ranked higher then Williams based on what they have done in the ring...

    Hatton

I rate Williams a lot, but Quintana took the **** out of him in the first fight (though the rematch was different) - he was handed the first half of the Margo fight on a plate....

And now seems to be fighting at his best weight - but there isn't much by way of top class opposition to elevate him further.

He hasn't won a genuine world title yet either.

Hatton, just because he has faced tougher opposistion, but i would have both the fighters in the top 10 p4p, both somewhere between 7-10 would be fair i think.

PW is making a tear through 147-160. Respect for that.

Hatton stays home at 140 and has dominated weak comp. when he decided to take on the best, he got ktfo. still a great fighter though. With mayweather sr in his corner, he probably will refine his skills and become a better fighter.

My problem isn't so much with Hatton... It's with Cotto. What the **** has he proven, except that he can be a punching bag to a guy that Williams beat?

And Beeston, he was not handed the first half of that Margarito fight. You keep believing the bull**** excuse that Margo started slow. He ALWAYS starts slow, and his opponents (if they are worth a damn) ALWAYS win the first rounds. He just ends up walking them down in the end. But Paul proved to be too strong and conditioned.

And this "Ring" rankings don't mean anything, really. They are penalizing him because of his height. The day Cotto or Margrito move up to 160 or even 154, I will STFU. But they haven't, and they won't. This, to me, shows P4P superiority. But apparently that is not how they rate them.

I watched Williams vs Margo, and felt that Margo started ridiculously slow - slower than he did in the Cintron II and Cotto fights.

However, you are correct in stating that Williams used his long reach to great effect, whilst Cotto showed naivity by not clinching, instead trying to fight like Whitaker in the earlier rounds.

I suppose Cotto has a win over Mosley........

How much Mosley has left will certainly become apparent next month, he was awful against Mayorga, but that could be put down to the weight, the size advantage of his opponent and a long layoff.

Williams and its not even close. He beat the universally recognized best welter in the world in Margarito. Not only that he dominated competition above 147.

Hatton is the best 140lb fighter in the world, but his only ventures above 147 were not good.

Hatton makes 140 easily, Williams kills himself to get to 147.

Hatton could probably make 135 but for his penchant for meat feast pizza, full English breakfast and Guiness.
