As of 10/09/2012, here's the ring current P4P list:

    1. Vacated
    2. Floyd Mayweather/Manny Pacquiao
    3. Andre Ward
    4. Sergio Martinez
    5. Nonito Donaire
    6. Juan Manuel Marquez
    7. Wladimir Klitschko
    8. Timothy Bradley
    9. Vitali Klitchscko
    10. Anselmo Moreno

Chad Dawson is out following his loss to Ward.
Anselmo Moreno cracks in the top 10 this week.
Andre Ward moves up two spots to 3rd on the P4P list.
Sergio Martinez falls one spot to 4th.
Nonito Donaire goes from 4th to 5th.

    Thoughts?

nice...but the tie at #2 is ****ing stupid...they have Jmm ranked high based on the "controversial"decision against Manny...yet still have Manny ranked at the top after"a controversial"loss against Bradley...makes 0 sense

Getting robbed against Pacquaio is greater then Nonitos entire career. Plus hes dominated everyone not named Mayweather.

Whereas Nonito has beem underwhelming for awhile now to say the least.

How is making a guy come down to your weight class and fight in your town proving your P4P status? :huh

It isn't. If Ward had moved up and beat Dawson that would have proven a lot. Things like this is why P4P is so stupid.

How did I know this thread would turn into a debate about Pacquiao/ Mayweather rather than talking about the issue the thread starter brought up?

Anyway Andre Ward moving ahead of Martinez and Donaire is fair in my opinion although Donaire has a much better resume than he's given credit for just because people don't know **** about the lower divisions. Martinez victories over Dzindriuk, Baker and Macklin are underrated too, however I think it's fairly safe to say at the same size Ward would defeat Martinez. Can't really envisage how a win over Chavez Jr will help him get his spot back as even if he destroys Jr people will just claim it was because Chavez is a hype job. For Donaire a spectacular victory over Nishioka would probably be held in a higher regard than Martinez beating Chavez but then people may also put it down to Nishioka's age.

As regards Moreno, I'm not too sold he's done enough to deserve inclusion into the top 10. I would agree he's the top bantamweight in the world right now and has some slick skills but he has one high profile victory- a lop sided win over Vic Darchinyan, but Darchinyan has since also lost to Shinsuke Yamanaka- which was also a lop sided UD and no one is mentioning him in a pound for pound sense. A couple of years ago Moreno also won a couple of razor thin SD over Nehmor Cermeno who has lost nearly every fight since.

A win over Mares and he certainly would warrnt inclusion. But I'd say at the moment Gamboa (unless it's a policy to drop someone who hasn't fought in a year), Froch or Nishioka would be better options.
