Scott Gilfoid off BN24 is the reason why i'd like to see a fighter lose

 

It's difficult to determine a number 1 super middle right now though. You can make a case for all of those. No way Bute should be ahead of Froch though IMO and how the heck was he at 1? anyway hopefully we'll get a clear champ after the tourney.

 

Ward is the chosen one, it seems. The commentators during his fight with Bika were talking as if he was peerless. Apparantly he can adapt his style to beat anybody, not that they mentioned anybody else...

Tbh though, we can nitpick and do the same with Bute's record too. I have more of a problem with Lucian being considered the best at the weight, which he was for a long time. He's more overrated then anyone at 168 IMO. Has he fought and beat anyone as good as Kessler or Abraham? The guy is still feasting on "contender" leftovers and the Zuniga's of this world.

I don't really take these things too seriously though, it'll all fall into place sooner or later and the cream will rise to the top.

 

Interesting logic that sees Andre Ward overtake Lucian Bute for beating Sakio Bika on points when Lucian Bute has already beaten Sakio Bika on points.

 

Andre Ward should have been ahead of Lucian Bute when he beat Mikkel Kessler. Mikkel Kessler was ranked #3 according to The Ring, and Bute has never beaten a fighter of this calibre in his life.

Froch #2, I can definitely see everyones argument for him being 1 though.

 

My take on it is The Ring rankings contributors probably didn't want to put Ward above Bute after the Kessler win in case it turned put to be fluke result, Ward couldn't maintain the form and the rankings looked too kneejerk on the back of 1 fight.

Now Ward has a couple more wins at top level that risk has been removed. Still, the using the Bika fight as justification is just stupid.

 

I think Ward is #1. Having said that, there is not much in it atm. Lets just have them all fight and find out. Who cares who is #1 right now, what matters is who will be the last man standing. Since Bute has signed with Showtime, it is only a matter of time before we find out.........

 

Wouldn't it be great if somebody a major network or something made a big tournament to determine whowas the best in a particular division?......oh wait

 

I think Froch deserves to be number one now. Compare what Froch's done in the last 2 years to Ward and Bute:

Froch: bt Jermain Taylor, Andre Dirrell, Arthur Abraham; lst Mikkel Kessler
Ward: bt Henry Buchanan, Edison Miranda, Shelby Pudwill, Mikkel Kessler, Allan Green, Sakio Bika
Bute: bt Fulgencio Zuniga, Librado Andrade, Edison Miranda, Jesse Brinkley

I think it's understandable that the win over Bika was enough to put Ward above Bute. But Froch has undoubtedly done more at the weight, especially when you factor in the travelling that he's done compared to stay at home fighters in Ward and Bute.

 

If Froch was American he'd be in the Ring top spot. No question. The arguments for him to hold that position are too strong.
