The Ring belongs to GBP. i doubt casamayor, a GBP boxer, will lose his ring belt despite his shitty performance where he clearly lost.

They already are... the only difference is The Ring have been proven in the past to take money for rankings; most of the other organizations are only alleged or suspected of doing it.;)

alright i dont wanna be up your nose and ****...but casamayor was the best lightwieght for 5 years. he was robbed of very bad decisions and in that the closest fight was against diego in the rematch II and diego had about 1 round ahead to most judges.

he was a dirty boxer puncher with alot of slick movement and fast hands.

he isnt a joke by any means. just an old 36 year old man who has been out the ring for an entire year.

also he was robbed of his belts in a hideous court battle whcih stopped his boxing career.

in ihs prime could he eat juan diaz and yes i would give him a big chance. but now he is started to become a shell:| end of an era

    when did this happen?

never. Ive been with the editors when they do the rankings, and trust me, those guys are not rolling in dough.

Good post, VW. I share your sadness at seeing a formerly great fighter at the end of his career.

US boxing championship... ABC proved that DKP were paying the Ring to rate King fighters... It ruined The Ring's reputation and the tournament.

The Ring never quite got over it and eventually went out of business.

They have come back, but with a lot less influence than they once had, thankfully.

As a followup to TBooze's response you can refer to this article: http://www.villagevoice.com/news/9945,jockbeat,9866,3.html. It happened in 1976.

thanks for the info. Still, the point is, all the ring editors do is sit in a room, analyze records and make the rankings. Its as far from coruption as any rankings body is.

    dis-appointing.

It's a disgrace to be called a ring Champ if he'll perform like that.
