The "Ring Title" should count as an "official title."

It is the only title that you don't pay sanctioning fees.

Besides it is the only title that "crosses" over all boxing organizations. It does not matter whether you are the WBC, WBO, IBF, WBA champion.

 

If there could be ONE title, I would be happy if it was The Ring title, although we can't forget it's owned by a promoter, the one who openly stated he wants to run the sport

 

The "Ring's" concept is more credible though than ANY of the big 3 belts. The number 1 faces the number 2 or in exceptional cases the number 3 to win the "Ring" title. In most cases this would mean a lineal champion as well as an undisputed champion with the widest consensus in his division.

 

Everything is a matter of opinion of who is number 1,2, or 3... There is plenty of guys that are not rank top 5 that deserve opportunities. They never arrive becuase of all this bs matter of opinion of who is top two. Who is the ring to decide who are the top two? Let all these fighters get an opportunity and the best way is to have rivalry among sanctions and if you just have one group being bias controlling, esp a sport like boxing, then how is that helping the sport?

 

I know their publisher bring owned by GBP opens them up for scrutiny but I honestly say I've not noticed any obvious favours for Goldenboy fighters in their magazine. The same bias towards American born or America based fighters carries on, particularily with the p4p ratings.

 

If I'm not mistaken, they don't charge sanctioning fees. That alone makes it more legitimate than the alphabets.

Not only is it legitimate but it is the only legitimate title.
It's not perfect but it's the best we have!

Would it be possible for an organization say the WBC for arguments sake to buy out the IBF and the others or am I just dreaming here. Sort of like people buy football clubs.

 

The WBC probably dont have the capital. Around a decade or so they were close to filing for chapter 11 because of the Rocky Roy Jones case. They seem tp be desperate for sanctioning fee's these days. Hence the proliferation of all their stupid titles. Silver Diamond Emeritus titles etc.

I agree for instance Hatton had the ring title for about 4 years and was recognised as the best at 140lb. Paulie gave up the IBF title to fight Hatton ,which shows the weight of the ring belt.

The ring title should be the most respected belt as there are no fees and if managed right with independant Judges who dont get blow jobs as pay then we could actually see the best fighting the best, like the good old days.
