The "Ring Title" should count as an "official title."

Pacquiao isn't the 140lb ring champ anymore, although they did give him about a year to arrange another fight at 140lbs before stripping him.

Mosley vs Mayweather was #1 vs #3 and they felt they couldn't rank the winner as champ because Pacquiao was still a factor.

Carlos Baldomir beats Zab Judah in a Judah WBC welterweight mandatory title defense. Baldomir didn't pay sanctioning fees to the WBA and IBF titles Judah also had. Why did he have to pay sanctioning fees to fight the world champion according to those organizations? If you beat the champ, you are the champ. It's not like this is a closed system where the WBA and IBF promote cards and their championships are only defended on their cards. So why did Baldomir have to pay them money for them to recognize him beating their champion other than calling the system what it really is: legal extortion. (For the record, the WBA vacated the title and the IBF continued recognizing Judah.)

 

Look at who holds the the current titles and you cannot dispute due to the requirements involved to win the title. A few titles are vacant, everyone knows the match ups that have to take place to crown a rightful champ. Yes, even though owned by GBP Ring Titles still hold up in my opinion.

Pac won 4 lineal championships, and including the big 4 has won championships in 7 different weight classes.

Lineal championship > other titles, including the ring.

Mosley was the #4 ranked welterweight, behind FLoyd, Pac and Berto.

BUT Mosley was ranked #3 P4P at the time.

So, according to the Ring, he was the 4th best welterweight fighter, but the 3rd best P4P fighter on the planet.

the fight wouldn't have happened without an organisation forcing Zab to face a mandatory challenger.

the WBA and IBF on this occasion is a separate issue, something that only arises with a unified/undisputed champ, which in this day and age is getting rarer.

Why do the have to pay sanctioning fees? I don't know, maybe so the organisations make some money out of it? Fighters and promoters make enough money by promoting themselves as being holders of the belt, why shouldn't the belts get something out of it?
