    2007 rankings by The Ring:

    Title Vacant
    1. Wladimir Klitschko
    2. Samuel Peter
    3. Oleg Maskaev
    4. Ruslan Chagaev
    5. Nikolay Valuev
    6. Sultan Ibragimov
    7. Serguei Lyakhovich
    8. Vladimir Virchis
    9. Tony Thompson
    10. Alexander Povetkin
    2017
    Champion T Fury
    1. AJ
    2. Wilder
    3. Pulev
    4. Parker
    5. Povetkin
    6. Ruiz jr
    7. Whyte
    8. Breazeale
    9. J Miller
    10. Bellew

Tyson Fury is out as he's in no form/shape to compete.

So which year's division was stronger? Who wins these fights

    Wlad (2007) vs AJ
    Sam Peter vs Wilder
    Maskaev vs Pulev
    Chagaev vs Parker
    Valuev vs Povetkin
    Ibragimov vs Ruiz jr
    Lyakhovich vs Whyte
    Virchis vs Breaseale
    T Thompson vs Miller
    Povetkin vs Bellew

Note: For those who don't remember Virchis, he looked much like current Breaseale: tough, big, hard-hitting, slow with many technical flaws, and with pretty good chin. I can't pick the winner in this match

    Wlad ko joshua
    Wilder dec Peter
    Pulev ko Maskaev
    Chagaev dec Parker
    Povetkin dec Valuev
    Ibragimov dec Ruiz
Liakovich vs Whyte could go either way
    Never watched much of Virchis
Miller isn't proven enough but possibly is better than TT
    Povetkin would destroy Bellew

Looking at the quality of those lists, I know what you mean. Probably give the class of 2007 the edge though.

And to think some people pay attention to this garbage more than other divisions...

    I think I'd lean towards 2017.
Nothing out of the ordinary in terms of talent depth for either era.
Not every era is a golden one.

I got it same except I can see Pulev defeating Maskaev. 07 clearly better to me.

I Agree with all these picks. 2007 is better for sure.

Virchis was a slow but durable and powerful puncher. Breaseale a somewhat chinny punching bag with limited skills.
