Hi all, Does The Ring actually have a set date each month when it is released in the U.K. or is it released when they can be bothered?? Yes, I've had another wasted trip to W H Smiths...
I think it depends on which WH Smith you go to as it could have been sold out or they dont stock it. I got my August copy in WH Smith with Marquez and Mayweather on the cover....
The August edition comes out in July.... I'm waiting for the September issue which I thought would be out this week. Saying that, up to last year the issues came out 2-3 months before their month date... March would come out in December/January... atsch
This is normally a good gauge. http://www.ringtv.com/subscribe/ Start looking for it about a week after it become the "ON SALE NOW" issue.
You mean things happen after one issue has been published but before the next one has got to the shops?
i disagree entirely ,most of the content of these trade magazxines is far better than some of the artivcles you read on the internet .While they may be out of date, there quality is a lot higher
What he said. I used to get KO and World Boxing years back and they were even further out of date. To me the lag seems to have come down, I think that The Ring has a print run in the UK now. BN which I also get is out of date within a day usually, but still worth getting IMHO.
Monthly magazines tend to be more opinion based, and around feature articles, hence their value. No point buying a magazine with reports of a Football/Cricket match or Boxing fight/whatever if its soooo long out of date. Weekly magazines are the ones in danger during the recession. The public's need for quick, up to date news and reports can be satisfied by the internet these days and people may not be so inclined to spend £2.50+ a week on a Boxing News or Autosport for example. I'm not in any way saying that Boxing News or Autosport are going out of business, just that montly magazines cater for a different need.
Its information is way out of date even when released and at least 2 months behind. I stopped buying it 5 or so years ago.
