The Ring's 10 guys that would have beaten Mayweather

The stupidity of the Mayweather hate on Classic is on par with RJJ-Fitz fantasy fights.

 

What hate? Mayweather is an atg, the second best of his generation, one of the best defensive fighters ever, a great counterpuncher and technician and he looked awesome at 130. Enough love? But put his career into context historically and you just see that he isn´t up there with true greats, not even up there with the Kid Chocolates or Emile Griffiths. It´s partly his fault, he could have faced better opposition at jww and ww, but mostly it isn´t. He´s unlucky to be around in an era with 17 weightclasses and 4 organizations which each like 3 belts per weightclass. An era where the best don´t need to fight each other and everybody can pick up a belt. An era where the talent pool is shallow. Not his fault but part of his legacy.
Even if Mayweather would have fought everybody of relevance during his day he wouldn´t be up there with the boxing gods because of the thin potential of his era. But since he didn´t face everybody of relevance, since he didn´t prove him against the best available opposition of his own time he can´t be considered for a place among the Robinsons, Grebs, Burley, Ross, Alis, Canzoneris. And when he didn´t prove himself against the best of his era how can you put him in with the best of all time and expect him to beat them? I can only pick him when he has a clear advantage in styles or size. When he hasn´t I just can´t pick him without feeling remorse.
