how is Gomez four spots ahead of Sanchez, or Chavez 15 spots ahead of Whitaker, or Tyson ahead of Hagler.

Hagler, Whitaker and Charles should be in the top ten

Isnt Steve Farhood writing for Ring at the time? If so, he could have something to do with it. What a horrible horrible man!

On this we agree 100%...Joe Louis at his very best.

kenny I got to find you that late 90s mag where Farhood ranks the top 50heavyweights. He's got Holifield third right behind Ali and Joe louis. What a clown!

Marciano at 12 is probably to low. He had wins when outweighted over Ezzard Charles - a top 10, Joe Louis a top 10 er and naturally bigger fighter. That is top 10 performances of its own, without allowing for the win over the bigger Joe Walcott and other great heavys of their time.

Ezzard weighed more than Rocky when they fought. Doesnt that make him bigger?

Jersey Joe was world champ when they fought and also weighed more.

Joe was definitely past prime, but he was still a top fighter of the times and naturally a lot bigger than Rocky. In some ways, this is similar to the Hagler that Ray Leonard beat.

I had a cousin who used to rave over Zarate to no end. Then there was the divisions fantasy fight that KO magazine ran in 1982 (the famous one in which Leonard magically tkos Jose Napoles) in which the writer wrote "Zarate may have been as good a bantam as there has ever been" and then wrote he would knock out Ruben Olivares.

In 1982 KO also ran an article "the best fighters since 1940" and guess what? Zarate made it into the top 10.

I got to see him for myself once I built up a collection and do my observations & comparisons with other recent fighters from other divisions. I found that CZ lagged behind many of them. His final defense which KO always claimed was a robbery, really wasnt. Pintor did poorly in the early part of the fight but turned up the heat on Carlos later and there wasnt anything he could do do stem the tide. I felt Carlos deserved to lose becuz Pintor was definitely the stronger of the two and took over the late rounds

Chavez is ranked just right, the only fighter i see below him that should be ahead is Ezzard Charles, and maybe Whittaker.

come on don't even play that, that weight was extra baggage from age not natural size, he was the smaller man, because although Marciano came in lighter his weight was solid and lean wheras Charles was a little soft at the weight meaning extra baggage, big difference.

and I rate Marciano, so its not to take away from him, but saying Charles was the bigger man is bull****, and you know it.

and coming from a guy that rates Leonards win over Hagler as meaningless
because you say he was past it, how can you rate Marciano's over Charles,as an all time top ten win.

thats some double standard right there
